Not Sleeping...

Twice this week now I've had nights with under three hours of sleep.  I had to cancel work this afternoon and come home early just to rest.

Ugh.  This is really not okay.

Anyone else in this boat?  I'm not willing to drug myself to sleep, and I'm feeling relaxed and not anxious at all at night... I just wake up, and can't get comfortable.

Re: Not Sleeping...

  • Every night. It's miserable and I'm really starting to feel the effects. Plus side: Waking up every 2 hours after L&D now seems like no big deal.

  • Almost every night for the last 2 weeks! I'm up usually 5 times now between 10 pm and 6 am. I consider it a great sleep if I "just" had to get up twice.

I can't get comfy and DH sleeping habits and snoring are driving me nuts more so than usual!

  • Me. I can't get comfortable and stay comfortable. I cheaped out and bought two body pillows instead of one of those amazing pregnancy pillow things. They modve around and they're so hot, and I wind up on DH's side of the bed, so either he's whacking at me or our child is having a party in there... It's ridiculous.

  • I'm with you! Usually its worse between 1-4 am. I've read all the books/magazines on my Kindle and I've downloaded probably 1-3 books in the last 4 weeks.

Everyone tells me "Sleep NOW!" and "rest up." Why they say that when its impossible I have NO IDEA!

Hope that you get some rest during the day to compensate!

  • I started having a lot of trouble last weekend. It has gotten a little better during the week, but not great, I have so much trouble getting comfortable and baby seems to be very active at night. I slept with DH's pillow under my belly one night; his pillow is very old and worn so it's just the right amount of support. Poor DH did not sleep that night with a newer pillow. I am hoping this weekend to purchase a very soft and mushy pillow.

Does not help that I have been so extremely busy and stressed at work, seems like all my cases have had major issues this week.

    Good Luck, sweet dreams!

  • I'm so sorry!

Something that works well for me is to take a bath at night right before I go to bed. I dim the lights, light a candle, and just soak for 10-15 minutes. Now I have no idea if this helps, but I also rub Vick's on my feet every night and put on socks. It knocks me out at least for a couple hours.

    Good luck mama!

  • I am in the same boat but this has gone on pretty much the hole pregnancy. So exhausted and I have never had such bags under my eyes.
  • I wake up around 4 every morning OMG I hate it sometimes I can sleep again sometimes not.. I"ve found a sleep mask (mines just cheap from Walmart helps me alot becuase it blocks light so I'm not bothered as much by sun coming up or TV or cars driving by or whatever
  • I find if I make myself go pee, I feel better. Kind of silly, but I guess not-so-filled bladder equals more room for LO which equals more comfort? That and my pregnant pillow have helped some. On the whole though, it is what it is. :(

  • Yep, no sleep going on here.  The past few weeks I've been waking up at least 3 or 4 times a night.  It's so frustrating.  Also, my alarm goes off at 6:15am, and I almost always wake up between 5 and 5:30.  So annoying.  I am so tired.  I'd like to sleep as much as I can BEFORE the baby comes.  I don't want "practice". lol.

  • Slept last night!  DH gave me a tummy rub with lotion before bed, which knocked me right out, and I didn't wake up until 4:30.  Yay, six hours!  Beats the heck out of 2!

  • This has been happening to me for a couple of weeks but mostly because of congestion. I keep startling myself awake trying to get a deep breath. I had been taking sudafed that helped, but at yesterdays apt the doctor said they wouldn't recommend taking that (actually the office advised me to take it, but thats a separate issue :). I also bought a tiny pregnancy wedge pillow that helped.
