weird twin comments: which one is older?

Thing that is beginning to drive me batty: strangers asking me "Which one's older?" Uh, it was a c-section, dude. They were pulled out within 30 seconds of each other, in order of who was closest to the exit. I usually say, "They're the same age, but Etta was pulled out first." Then they get all weirded out and say, "But she's so much smaller!" As if she could really be expected to do a lot of growing in the 30 seconds she was out in the world and Claire was still in my belly? Think about this, dude.

Hahaha. Have you seen those democratic twins from Texas? They kept mentioning one was one min older. I was wondering if they were c/s or if their mom pushed that quickly!

Yes! I love them! I also love that there was a "scandal" when one stood in for the other at a parade. Now I want the girls to run for the presidency/vice presidency as running mates.

Yeah, the "she is so much smaller" comment is kind of stupid, but the "which one is older" comment is pretty standard. My dad, and my MIL are both twins, and they always fight with their siblings about who is older and wiser. I think its cute.

hahahah Ernie! Those first 30 seconds is when the most growth happens! DUH! You should know these things, isn't your H a pediatrician?! You should start making up crazy stories about it.. like something I read the other night where a lady was asked if she was buying cat food for her cat. I think her response was, "No, I'm on this new beneful diet. It has all the nutrients in a smaller amount so I just eat a piece whenever I get hungry." I think that is the best way to deal with stupid questions.

I had a young boy ask me that this wknd. 3 mins doesn't make a whole lot of difference in which one is bigger. Then again, he also asked if they were in my belly or my mom's belly...

That would be awesome!!! I dated a twin (well 4 different ones, but that's another story), and he and his brother were a bit shady. They only had one drivers license and car insurance. In their heads, if they were busted for anything, they shared DNA so there was no way to tell who was who.

I went to Hawaii with him, and the license was in his brothers name. He got pulled over and had to do a breathalyzer. He was all kinds of panicked that if he got a DUI it would be in his brothers name. Luckily he blew 0.0 so all was well.

I have taught a number of twins and triples the last few years and they all proudly profess who is older. It's funny because the older one is usually more outgoing.

Now who knows if that is because of nature vs nurture but it certainly is interesting.

I've had that comment. Ethan obviously hahaha by one minute! Oh and yes, Allison is 3 pounds smaller but they are still twins! The one that I love the most is, "are they identical?" hahaha yes my boy and girl are identical, um no they are fraternal! Even had a nurse ask that!!wtf

My best friends in high school were two sets of twins. Talk about a fifth wheel! The whole older=bigger is because for vaginal births, the bigger twin is usually born first. Still a dumb question though!

I've seen where some twins even put a lot of emphasis on who is the older or younger twin. I personally find it to be odd since they would of had the same amount of gestation. I've seen where some can be born different days because of timing and such of delivery but not where it would account for one being smaller or larger. I think in general, that people are interested by twins, so they start asking lots of questions before thinking about what is coming out of their mouths. I hope when they walk away they ask themselves why they asked such weird questions.
