Greek yogurt as a replacement for sour cream

Don't do it. It does not taste the same. I made poppyseed chicken last night following a recipe that calls for greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It was not nearly as good. It had a weird tang. H ate it but asked me to cross that recipe off the list for future meals.

DD ate one bite, made a sour face and said "No thanks!". lol

I use just regular plain yogurt as a sub for sour cream and mayo in my food all the time, but not for DH or the boys. I like it.

I've used it n place of heavy cream or ricotta in a few pasta dishes. It's okay, but pretty sour for my tastes.

Greek yogurt is just nasty TBH. I think I will stick with my Yoplait yogurt, thank you.

Ok wait. Did you buy the full fat greek yogurt? And you can't get that nasty Chobani or whatever. There is a specific one called Athens or Adonis or something. It is incredible. Low fat greek yogurt is not good.

Oh no! I'm one of those annoying people who do this substitution all the time. My favorite is to use it on tacos (haha). I can't taste the difference. I guess my palate isn't as refined as everyone else's.

Greek yogurt cannot replace sour cream. Because Greek yogurt only strained 50% whey( typ. take about 4 hours) from plain yogurt.
