Hello! I am on the fence about which baby wrap to get. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about this matter because I cant decide between the two. I live in a big city so I am plan on using it a lot so I dont have to take out the stroller every time I go out and run errand.
My mom is going to come and visit me in two weeks so I am going to ask her to buy me one of them. I think I like Baby Ktan better but I am afraid that it wont fit me and with the moby I wont have that problem because it is one size fits all.
My DH will not be using the carrier so that it is not an issue about that he couldnt use the Baby Ktan.
It seems that the baby ktan looks easier to use but I was just wondering which one holds the baby better. I am just afraid LO is just going to slip out.
Re: Baby Ktan or Moby?
I haven't tried the k-tan so I have no point of reference, but I loved the moby and still use it. My DD is 20 lbs now but she was 6 lbs at birth so it was easy to carry her around in it. It did scare me a little bit so I didn't use it much when she was really little, though I wish I would have. I used it to fly when she was 3 months old, so I watched several videos on youtube to get really good at it. The ties can be intimidating, but wrap it up really tightly, and the baby will be very secure. It does stretch out a little bit, so it's harder ot have her in now, though I sometimes do to calm her before a nap. I like that the fabric can go down your arms and it's really evenly supported.
The biggest difference between the two is that the moby can be tightened up more and the k'tan doesn't involve as much wrapping. The support offered is pretty similar. Used correctly, both are very safe. If you are interested in other options, my siggy has info on pros and cons of different carrier options.

As a pp said: neither.
I have the K'tan, it Id say it was great when DD was super tiny. But I always felt like she was too low and slipping down more. And I never felt like the sash kept her tight enough in there. It also made me think that she wasn't too comfortable, since all her weight seemed to be on her crotch instead of her bum. I still use it occasionally if we're going out for a short period and DD wants to face out, but I notice that my back hurts after just a while. Oh, and DD is only 16 lbs, so not a porker.
I have never used the Moby, but thats bc I know Id never bother with that much fabric. Just not for me.
I have the Beco Butterfly, and I LOVE it. It comes with an infant insert, so you don't have to buy that separately like you do for the Ergo. DD likes it, and its so easy to adjust. I can have DD in there for a long time and barely even notice the weight. HIGHLY recommend!
