Jeggings?

Do you wear them? I've resisted up until now, but I'm sorely tempted by the pictures I see with long sweaters and ankle boots. I'm wondering if I can pull it off.

I do have a few pairs of skinny jeans that I wear with high boots...are jeggings that much different?

Re: Jeggings?

  • I dislike them. Refuse to wear them. I don't like skinny jeans either. Just NMS.

  • I love them...they're all I wear. I tend to wear cardigans and a long silk tank with them a lot of the time. Or some sort of silky longer shirt.

Kate, can I ask a personal question? What's your build? I'm tall and (according to the scale) thin, but everything has been going south over the last year or so, if you get my drift. I've dusted off the Jillian Micheals DVDs and I'm trying to remedy that, but at the moment, I'm not super-toned. This is why jeggins scare me.

  • I love them.  I love skinny jeans too, but jeggings have that little bit of stretch to make them fit really well and make them really comfortable.

These are my two favorite pairs

The second pair doesn't say jegging, but they definitely have quite a bit of stretch in them.

  • There are two kinds of jeggings, ones that are tights with a jean print and actual jeans that are very strechty. I hate the first ones, but LOVE the second ones. I'm medium height (but tall for Peru) and medium built, but I like my legs. I think it comes down to that. I've seen jeggins in women of all shapes and sizes, though, and I like them all. I would say that if you are in shape you can wear the ones with a thinner material, if you are not try to find the ones that are a little thicker but still very tight. If your legs are thin you can wear the jeggins with pumps, booties and boots, and if your legs are wider, boots can balance them out. In the end, there are no Hard and fast rules IMO, wear them if you like them.

  • I have these https://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/es/en/zara-W2012/271007/826315/MEDIUM BLUE DAMAGES DENIMS And I love them because the are mid rise. I hate low rise unless I wear a chunky belt. That is something to consider, too.

  • Love Them!  got a pair last year and had to get a new pair just last week because I finally got all the baby weight off.  Go to Express and try on the dark denim pairs, they have different styles.  You will not walk out of there without them.  Hands down my favorite thing to wear in fall/winter.  they look great with knee high boots as well.  I didn't like wearing them much last year because I still had a decent size post baby belly on me.  I would wear them with spanx.  but now it's right up my alley.

  • Forgot to add that they are way more comfy than skinny jeans

  • I prefer jeggings over skinny jeans, because they have more spandex in them and fit my shape better.  American Eagle has good cheap ones.

This is my favorite pair, they look good with heels, tall boots, sandals, everything.  I LOVE these jeans.  They've also kept their dark color, and are insanely slimming on.

  • I don't mind at all. I'm short and chubby. ;) 5'4 but I have very long legs for a midget. I find that jeggings add less fabric and bulk to my small frame, but that's probably not the case for everybody.
  • I wear them not pregnant (would wear them pregnant if I could find some that I like but that is another issue!) and love them. I have skinny jeans as well but prefer the more jeggings style with long sweaters/cardigans like you mentioned. I also love the ones from American Eagle that the pp posted about. I would have never thought to try them on since I think I am too old for AE (29 - practically ancient!) but my sisters swear by them and made me try some. They were right!

If it helps, I am about 5'4" and usually a size 6 not pregnant. If I work hard I can get down to a 4 but let's face it I really love chocolate cake and creamy pasta so that is unlikely to happen.

  • I love my jeggings.  I buy them from Gap.  I typically wear a 0/2 (and I'm 5'6" if that helps at all) but I had to size up to a 4 for the jeggings I have.

  • Wow, thanks, everyone! I've had it in my head that you need to be built like a super-model to look/feel good in them, but now I'm excited to try them!
  • This is why you wear tunics or big sweaters or even those long button ups ;)

I live in jeggings, boots, and longer tops in the fall/winter times and feel pretty damn good in them. I am also on the thin scale but things aren't the way they were before kids

totally NOT!  I wear loose fitting sweaters/tops in them.  they make your legs look skinny.  so it's all good

Not necessarily. Depends on what your legs look like before. I don't think that they flatter most people. Same with leggings. People think you can just stick a long shirt/sweater/tunic on and boots and be done with it. It's so not the case.

I realize that I'm in the minority on this one since I don't like them though. I'm totally biased.

This, exactly. I made the mistake of buying some leggings that looked like jeans, and they were horrendous. Then I bought some stretchy skinny jeans (old navy the rockstar super skinny) and they look great. If it makes you feel better, I don't have a perfect body either.

  • I think if you can find the right fit even if you are not in tip top model shape you can still pull them off. Just make sure you don't have them so skin tight that you can see all of the dimples and panty lines and that there is no muffin top because they are so tight and you're good to go!

I totally plan on rocking the skinny jeans/jeggings with sweaters and boots this season! In fact I just bought my new boots for just that purpose!

  • I have a few pairs, but I prefer regular skinny jeans. I find jeggings don't hold their shape very well and tend to stretch out and get a little baggy on me by the end of the day.
