It's totally possible to drive cross-country with a baby and pets :)  DH and I did a cross-country move with our dog when our son was 8 months old.  We have an SUV, so we put the dog in the back, I sat in the middle with our son, and we pulled my car on a trailer hitched to DH's car.  It was long, but I think it was worth it.  The hardest thing was that my son usually nursed to sleep, so he got upset when we didn't stop for every single nap.  But after the first day or two, he got into the rhythm and it was a smooth trip.  I think it's definitely a better option than renting an RV or traveling seperately, but you should do whatever makes you most comfortable.  Just know, that it is totally possible :)  Good luck!

This!  Make an adventure out of it.  You can always get the second car shipped if you don't want to tow it.  You wouldn't save any money with an RV.
