Trouble TTC

If you have taken ovidrel...

Is there a way to pinpoint exactly when you ovulated? I triggered last Sunday evening and my RE said 2436 hours is the norm but some people can take up to 48. I have also been temping I know I shouldn't need to but I like to be thorough and BBT makes it look like I ovulated Wednesday...but that would have been 60 hours which is outside the window. I'm going in for progesterone check tomorrow.

It's weird because for the first time ever I have no ovulation symptoms. I don't ovulate on my own, but when I do with meds I usually have bad cramps, sore boobs, headaches, etc. This cycle? Nothing. Is that normal with ovidrel?

Anyway, is there a way to pinpoint exactly when I ovulated if I even did? I know it has to be between 12maybe60 hours after trigger, but is there a way to get even more specific?

Thanks Ladies!

Re: If you have taken ovidrel...

  • Im assuming you want to know when the egg gets to the uterus. For my iuis my RE does them 36-40 hours after trigger so my guess is that it takes about that long to travel from ovary to uterus. They can tell you by blood test if you ovulated but you are not going to ever know to the exact minute/hour.

  • This is why they tell you not to temp on medicated cycles.  Because it may cause wonky temps.  My BBT doesn't go wonky during med cycles but yours may - so basing when you O off the temps is unreasonable.  There is no way to pinpoint unless your doctor had given you an ultra sound about 48 hours after trigger and saw the follie collapsed so they could say "You ovulated in the past 24 hours".

If you have a p4 test at 7dpo (being 8dptrigger) and you have a reading of 10 or more than you ovulated on time.  Nothing else to do but wait and try not to obsess.

  • Portable dildo cam and accompanying ultrasound techie to check you every few minutes? Otherwise, no real way to pinpoint it. BUT, you should know that the whole process does not need to be that specific. The egg can wait a bit for the sperm, the sperm can wait a bit for the egg...there is some leeway in all directions.

The BBTs can be off with the meds, and symptoms/lack thereof mean absolutely nothing. Your hormone levels are different with the meds, you can expect different symptoms as well.

I usually made sure to have sex just in case for my own peace of mind, even after it should have been moot.
