What has been your favorite age so far?

What has been your favorite age?
DH and I were discussing DDs age last night and he said he liked 2 much better than 3 because she is so sassy and emotional lately. I think every year is my favorite. Looking back, two was hard because of potty training, sleep issues, me being pregnant... I think 3 is fun because she can communicate well, she is so creative and fun!

  • With DS, I loved 18 months to 3 years the best. DD is about to be 18 months, so we'll see if I like this phase as much with her as with DS. She has such a fun personality, but she's much more demanding and easily frustrated than DS was.

  • Hmm.  I ache for my tiny newborns.  I have baby fever and feel like I relive the first 24 hours of my babies' lives in my dreams every night... My little ones not complicated, easy to soothe.. a snuggle and a boob.

But I love the little people who have taken over my home.  I think if I had to say, it's the stage where they burst out of "the terribles."

DD#1 had them 3-3.5 and burst out of them in what seemed an instant after 6 months of head spinning and she became this tiny little mature adult at times.  That stage is amazing because you suddenly realize the torture of the terribles is over, ant not for naught- LOL.

DS had them from2-3 and now is this thoughtful, patient little guy.

DD#2 hasn't had the terribles yet, but I'm sure they're on the way.

So I think for me it's that stage, not so much an age.

  • 1.5-2.5 has been my favorite.  They're so fun at that point IMO, but not so defiant.  I start to enjoy babies around 6m (when they can sit up).

  • With my oldest I loved 2.5-3. 3 was o.k. until the baby came and now it is a nightmare. I am enjoying the newborn/infant phases much more this time and don't know if I will survive another 3 year old. I don't know if I will survive the one I have...

  • One

Both of my girls were difficult babies, and my older DD has been a handful since 2.5.  So one has definitely been my favorite age.

  • I loved 6 months to 12 months. No back talk, you can redirect them really easily. Both of my kids turned crazy from about 14 months til close to 2. I loathe the stage my DS is in at 21 months. He's been awful! I think my kids hit the terrible stage earlier than the norm.

  • I loved the 8-11 month period, and 4. Everything in between was rough for various reasons.

  • I think 12-18ish months was maybe the most fun. Though recently, since right around the time they hit 3.5 ... it's getting better than 2-3.5 was. They can still be really challenging--fighting, whining, REALLY intense, dramatic tantrums, constantly getting hurt ... but I love that they are easier to reason with now, you can explain things to them and they'll actually accept an explanation sometimes instead of flipping out, and I love the conversations we can have with them (and eavesdrop on between each other :)).

And if they were singletons, I think I would have a different answer. They've always had a tendency to tag-team us, so it's hard to enjoy each kid's "easy" phases since that's when brother tends to really act up. Like Alex was really relatively good at 2 but went crazy around his 3rd birthday and has been really defiant ever since, whereas Will got really defiant practically the day of their 2nd birthday and is now that way at a whole new level. Alex also would've been a fairly sweet, lower-needs newborn on his own but as it was with two newborns, it was just pure survival mode.

  • I think every age so far has been my favorite. She's had some challenging stages, but I love how much older she seems now

  • Hard to say as all ages have had great moments and real struggles.  DD#1 was a hard newborn due to health issues and then her ADHD kicked in full swing along with her speech delay so 3 and 4 were very hard with her but I have loved 5 and the beginning of 6 with her sooo much.  Not that she is easier as a child but she is maturing and is able to do so many more things and she is always (has always been this way) very happy go lucky and loves to help and be involved.  She is overall a very easy child and just wants to experience so many things so it makes it fun.  She was a hard toddler but still a lot of fun.  DD#2 - any age but her current age!  She is 4 and so independant and sassy that it drives me crazy.  She is a little shy and doesn't always want to try new things.  She has some amazing moments and can make me laugh just about any time she tries which I love.  She is still my cuddle muffin but I can't wait for the next few months when we get closer to 5 and I am hoping, she calms down a bit with the drama and the I'm a baby one sec and a big girl the next stuff.  I loved her as a 2 and 3 year old.  Right now, I am just loving all the things we can do as a family and that stuff gets better and better as the girls get older and can do more.  A few more years and the morning routine before school will rock - right now I still need to help the little one a lot, the 6 year old can pretty do her whole morning routine herself which just helps us all get out the door faster.

  • I LOVED the newborn stage. The cuddles and bonding. Oh I miss it! But other than that about 2 1/2 was awesome! He's got a lot more attitude now at just over 3 and I'm ready to be out of this stage!!!
  • For me, it was definitely between 8 months and age 2. She was so sweet and playful and giggly. IDK what happened after age 2, but she's moody and tempermental and fiercely independent/opinionated -- the last of which is a double edged sword. Great character trait, challenge to parent. :)
