If you are complaining that you are tired of never having money, then you shouldn't be having anymore kids. I mean really, what are people thinking when they choose to have more kids under the stress of having no money? I'm not talking about accidents. I'm talking about those who chart for 4 years waiting for their H to come around to wanting another kid. Which brings me to my 2nd UO.
If you have been trying for YEARS to get your H/SO/FI to agree to have kids and then he finally gives in to your demands, I think it's an aweful way to bring a child into your family! I would always fear that he would resent the child when things get difficult. Or me. Why do that to your relationship? (I'm sure you guessed it, these two are connected. And the reason why the H didn't want a 3rd kid was because they have been struggling for years with finances.)

I think people that don't believe in evolutionnbsp;are idiots.
I don't believe in evolution. I am sure people/things have evolved over time but I dont think man evolved from monkeys or the earth was just created. I have religious beliefs in regards to those type things but I wouldn't call myself an iditot.
I can't think of my own UO right now. Maybe I'll be back!

Here here! As long as it really is a result of diet.
I don't think that kids should be able to have expensive or elaborate electronics. Teenagers sure, but 5 year olds don't need TV's, 3 year olds don't need DS's, and for gods sake a year old baby doesn't need to be entertained by an IPad.

So you don't believe in science?
I believe in science but I think I can still do so and not believe in evolution. Science is a very wide and important part of our lives but evolution is just a theory. IMO its a theory that I dont agree with but like I said, I take a religious approach to those type of subjects.

I agree with you. I don't on an IPad, but if I did I wouldn't allow my young child play with it at all. They are expensive for one and I wouldn't want it broken. Also children should be outside playing and using their imaginations. I think all these electronics make children very lazy. When I was a child I would be out riding my bike and climbing a tree. Not inside playing with video games and watching tv.

LOL - You would hate my house! We are yuppie techies to the core!
I myself for myself would probably love it. For example our surrent setup is a PS3 and a 6 core processor 1 TB monster hooked in to a 55" HDTV in our living room. I just don't think that kids need to have their own, used all the time things like that. We know at least 5 5-6 year old kids that have at least a 32" HDTV in their bedrooms, usually connected to Netflix. I think it's ridiculous.

I can't even argue about this because there is no point. You just don't have the correct information. Maybe if you looked past religion, you would see the truth. But I believe that about just about everything, and not just evolution.

All of science is theories. That are accepted widely as truth until disproven. I think, if evolution were untrue, the Bible has been around long enough to disprove it if all the events in the Bible had actually transpired. I'm going with Carl Sagan, Charles Darwin and Neil Degrasse Tyson on this one.
I feel sorry for people who have never seen certain movies. If you haven't seen a Star Wars movie, Back to the Future, or Indiana Jones, for example, you just weren't raised correctly. I am being sarcastic, but not really. Before I became a SAHM, my boss hadn't seen any of those movies. That just blows my mind. What the hell crap did you watch growing up?!?

I don't have nearly enough passion on the subject to deem them idiots. I do believe in evolution, the specific meaning of the word, not the idea that it can't coexsist with intelligent creation. Yes things evolve, we see it happen and there is much proof. But I don't think that means that everything just blew up in some giant screw up and poof here we are.

I guess the fact that I don't believe in evolution will be my UO then. I can respect anyone that has different opinions and even the fact that you think mine might be crazy, but I don't consider myself an idiot for not thinking like you do. For the record, I would much rather live my life believing the bible instead of our world these days!
ETA: maybe I wasn't clear but I do believe that things and people have evolved over time. I think I would be an idiot to ignore that BUT that doesn't mean I believe everything about evolution. I do NOT believe the earth was formed due to some combustion or big bang, etc, etc. My beliefs tend to go with creation over evolution.
I didn't read the whole article but my state, MS, tried to pass this last year and ALOT of people thought it would make IVF illegal. I did a lot of research and fine line reading before voting and I can say that IVF would definitely still be legal, it was just making getting an abortion illegal.
Like I said, I didn't read the whole article but from what I read it sounded similar to the personhood admendment MS tried to pass so just trying to clear up some confusion!

I agree with the whole anti-personal use technology for kids thing. I about died when we were at Target a few weeks ago and saw these "toddler friendly" cases for ipads and iphones!! Seriously?!
In our "rich, cliche hometown on the lake"every 3 year old has an iphone and a flat screen tv... it's ridiculous and makes me physically ill. My younger brother got a touch ipod when he was 8, an iphone when he was 9 and his tv was upgraded to a flat screen with an xbox when he was 11. He also has a 3 DS systems and a PSP. You want to know how many times they've been lost, broken, replaced?? Too many to count...
I remember those little firefly phones that I think cricket had. It had an emergency button and two or three contact buttons for parents/caregivers and that was it... I wish they still made those. It was a great idea for young kids, instead of handing them a $500 phone.

Noooooooooo!!
I'm guilty of saying the same thing ... FI think I'm nuts, that and several other movies. But our views on the "classics" vary. Oh, I haven't, nor do I have any desire to see Star Wars. I've never been much of a movie person though, I've seen plenty of what I think are "classics". But I've always preferred books over TV.

We have an old iPhone in one of those fisher price cases for DS to play with. It has Fisher price apps and he enjoys it. He doesn't play with it often and the phone isn't activated to make calls or anything. We mainly bought the case so DS wouldn't break the phone or ruin it by trying eating it.

Oh, and we don't own iPads (well, I do have one for work), mostly because I don't understand why anyone would spend $500 on something like that. Anything I would use an iPad for, my Kindle Fire does for half the cost and all sorts of new tablets are coming out this fall in the $200 range.
That said, I have definitely whipped out the Fire and handed it to my 2 year old, especially on trips.

I am just jumping in here to say that I believe that science and religion can coexist, and even complement each other. I do believe in evolution, but that it was guided and written by the God of the Bible. And if you look back to the original Hebrew text in Genesis, the words used for periods of time (day 1, day 2, day 3) could also be translated as "a period of time", so that could be a day, a year, or a million years.

Disagree. Science is based on facts not faith. There is no factual evidence that God had any part in evolution.

Science may be based on facts and evidence, but we obviously don't know all there is to know. All science begins with a hypothesis, so whether or not God played a part in evolution may simply be yet to be proven. As mama&baby pointed out, none of us really knows without a doubt what happened. It may simply be that intelligent design has yet to be proven, but I do believe that science and religion can complement each other very well.

I can still disagree. It doesn't make sense to me to say they can coexist. So you believe in science until something hasn't been proven and then it was God's doing? I don't get it. I think science and faith are two different ways of forming answers. One based on evidence and one based on belief.
I also wouldn't call someone an idiot for having a different opinion.

::end vent/rant/frustration::
I think children that are very obese should be taken from their parents. Feeding a child unhealthy things causing them to get diabetes and other health problems is just as bad as a parent straving their child.
I don't believe in evolution. I am sure people/things have evolved over time but I dont think man evolved from monkeys or the earth was just created. I have religious beliefs in regards to those type things but I wouldn't call myself an iditot.
I can't think of my own UO right now. Maybe I'll be back!
So you don't believe in science?
I don't think that kids should be able to have expensive or elaborate electronics. Teenagers sure, but 5 year olds don't need TV's, 3 year olds don't need DS's, and for gods sake a year old baby doesn't need to be entertained by an IPad.
I was an Anthropology major in college. This is just outrageous to me that you don't believe in Evolution. It's not a theory. There's evidence upon evidence of it's existence.
I lost a little respect for my sister when she told me she hates The Goonies. Who says that!?!?
my read shelf:
Noooooooooo!!
Has anyone here read The Egg?
That's our living room too... minus about 10" lol
I'm guilty of saying the same thing
I've never seen Back to the Future. I've seen Star Wars and Indiana Jones but I didn't see them until I was an adult.
Star Wars came out in the 70s. Indiana Jones came out in the early 80s. I was born in 79, so if I was watching anything, it was more along the lines of the Care Bear movie. It's kind of like expecting that my kids will have seen Twilight. They might, but it's really before their time.

Loooove the Goonies! One day I really want to travel to Canon beach and take a photo in front of Haystack rock!
I once watched all 6 Star Wars movies to impress a guy... didn't like the movies, and it turns out I didn't really like the guy either ;-)
I agree! My sister actually learned about evolution in Catholic school.
You are BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You word things much better than me!
That would be why she said she believes in evolution coexisting with the Bible, not that it was a fact.
I for one am an evolutionist, but I'm not going to bash anyone for their beliefs. It's not like I was standing there when the worlds was made.
This made me spit out my yoohoo (my bad drink for the day)
Smilelari, you have got to go rent Back to the Future. GET ON IT!
As for the bolded, to even put Twilight in the same category, the same paragraph, the same post on a message board is blasphemy! Twilight is crap. I think Harry Potter is more along the lines as the Star Wars of our time.
Oh, sweetie, I like it too. But it's BAD that I like it because it's crap. It really is. It's like putting Creed in the same category as Nirvana or the Smashing Pumpkins. I bought Creed albums when I was 13, but it doesn't mean they're good. I recognize that they're terrible, yet I listened to them anyway.
