How many pair of shoes do your kiddos have?

DD is outgrowing her current shoes and I need to buy her shoes for the Fall anyway, so I'm now wondering if what I normally buy is out of the norm. Typically, I buy DD a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of brown mary jane style shoes and a pair of black mary jane style shoes. These three pairs seem to get her through the winter and are versatile enough for her normal style of clothes. This year, I may buy her a pair of boots, but only if she's interested. She wanted nothing to do with boots last year.

Anyway, what do you buy for your kiddos?

  • DS has two pairs - one black, one brown/green.  I think if I had a DD it would be more.

  • Two right now.  A pair of white sandals that she wears everyday and a pair of foam pink sandals that she hardly ever wears.  She usually only has one pair of white sandals that she wears until they're worn out.

  • I have four for summer/early fall right now.  A pair of flip flops, a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of brown dress shoes and a pair of black dress shoes.  If we hadn't gone to a few nice events (weddings/graduations) we may have done without the dress shoes.  For winter, we obviously wouldn't need flip flops.
  • He has a pair of good tennis shoes (Keens), a pair of tennis shoes to wear with skinny jeans (Gap), and a pair of sandals right now. I'm still going to buy a pair of dress shoes and rain boots.

  • DS probably has 4-5 pairs of shoes right now that fit/are in season/that he will tolerate wearing.  I think our main problem is daycare.  I need to just go out and buy shoes specifically for daycare and keep those there, because he goes in pj's to daycare in the morning as she changes him after they do breakfast (he goes in at like 6:30a, so he gets milk and a snack cup of cheerios or something on the way there).  It seems like we never have enough for both places without misplacing a shoe somewhere or sending everything to her house.

  • That's about what her shoe wardrobe consists of plus one pair of white sandals.  Oh, also, now that she's in MMO, I bought her a pair of closed toe white shoes.  She's not allowed to wear open toed shoes there.

I really want to get her a cute pair of rain boots, but I can't justify the cost.  It doesn't really rain that much here.

Her summer shoe collection included a pair of white open toed sandals, white closed toed sandals and 3 pair of Old Navy flip flops. Now that she's back in daycare, she really only has one pair of shoes that she can wear to school and they're wearing out fast. They're the twinkle toe light up shoe. She loves them, but I won't buy another pair like them. They're a PITA because you can't get them wet, so they can't be washed clean.

  • Way too many.

But most of them are hand-me-downs.  Dressing each morning is like shopping. . .

  • How many pairs of shoes do my kids have? WAY too many. My DS has about 4 prs of running shoes, 2 pairs of dress shoes, a pair of rain boots and a pair of winter boots. That's not bad- My DD has even more. 3 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of Crocs, 2 pairs of runners, 3 pairs of dress shoes, a pair of winter boots and one pair of rainboots. This is all that fits them right now ! In all fairness i do get a lot of hand me downs and in turn, these items will be handed down too. My DD has at least 10 prs of shoes to grow into- I won't have to buy her shoes until she's 5!

Same here. My front closet looks like a shoe store. I'm not kidding. Some of the prettier shoes never get worn out because they outgrow them so fast. Except their runners, they are holier than the Pope.

  • Currently, three.  One tennis shoe, one sandal, one pair of Keens.

  • Mine has one pair.  They're a step up from tennis shoes, but not exactly dress shoes.  Sort of middle ground.

  • DS has a pair of sandals in his current size. I think we have 3 pairs in the next size up, sneakers, some nicer shoes and sandals. 2 were a gift otherwise there's no way he'd have that many. If we had a girl, we'd probably have a lot.

  • Let's see, for the fall he has 3 pairs of sneakers - red suede, brown suede and Oscar :)  He has two pairs of sandals right now.  He also has rain boots and will have winter boots and when we decide on what we'll wear for our holiday pictures, he'll probably end up with an inexpensive pair of black or brown dress shoes.  Although, if he needs black I'd probably try to sausage his feet into last year's shoes for the 1 hour of pictures.

  • DD1 has a huge collection - maybe 10 pairs for ea. season. She's really into fashion

DD2-we get away w/ the bare minimum 2-3 shoes (sneakers, dress up shoes)

  • I usually get about 5 pairs in each size.  Right now he has a brown casual pair, a black casual pair, a black dress pair, a navy loafer pair, a water shoe pair and a pair of crocs.   I know most people think crocs are ugly, but he has a pair of the Micah style crocs.   They are so awesome that I rebuy them every time he changes shoe size.
  • Right now she's down to a pair of pink Crocs and pair of red/white polka dot sandals, because she's outgrown everything else and I don't want to buy more summer shoes she can only wear for a couple more weeks.  But she has about 7 or 8 pairs of mary janes and boots to wear this fall.

  • I don't exactly know. They each have over a dozen though.

  • I usually have 2 pairs of shoes on-hand for DD, but sometimes just one pair if I suspect she's going to rocket through a size with a growth spurt (which is where we're at right now).  I'll also have a pair of winter boots for her.  I don't really give a rip about matching shoes with outfits - everything she wears is pretty much play clothes anyway.

  • Right now my DD has four pairs of shoes: 2 pairs of runners (she tends to climb into the water table at daycare so we have to rotate the runners every other day so they can fully dry out), 1 pair of Mary Janes and 1 pair of sandals. Plus a pair of rain boots.

I will be adding a pair of boots for winter.

  • In her current size, she has 5 pairs of shoes, but I only bought 1 of them.

She has 2 pairs of sandal-type shoes, a pair of tennis shoes, and 2 Mary Jane-ish pairs (one brown, one white).

  • She has four in her current size:

brown maryjane style w/ a sneaker sole (carter's)

    brown/white plaid w/ sneaker sole

silver sparkle striderite w/ pink flower

    pink sneaker

I bought the brown maryjanes thinking they were dressier, but then realized they still have a white sneaker-type sole. I'll probably end up buying her another pair that is dressier, either brown or black, depending on what I think it would more appropriate with her winter wardrobe.

  • In summer she had two pairs of sandals, crocs, and sneakers. For fall she'll have a pair of purple lego sneakers and a pair of navy mary janes. I'm thinking I may need to get something more neutral. Also, she has winter boots for outside, but no dressy boots.

  • This thread makes me feel like a bad person. DD has 7 pairs of sandals, 5 pairs of "ballet" flats, 4 pairs of "runners/skate shoes," 3 pairs of "cute boots" and pair of Bogs. But I got really good deals on most of them. Embarrassed

  • 3 pairs. He has a pair of sandals we got at the start of summer that he is will outgrow in the next month or so. We just got for him during tax free weekend a pair of brown casual shoes with velcro closures for daily wear and a pair of brown loafers for church. We probably wont buy more shoes until he starts getting close to outgrowing the newest pairs, so around the new year-ish.
