Weight Watchers Online Anyone?

I know there was a discussion awhile back about doing Weight Watchers, but I was not ready at the time. I'm really, really ready now.

Anyone have advice/experience to share? Most likely interested in the online program, as meeting would be hard to make. Any anecdotes? Successes? Failures?

I have a major portion control problem in the afternoon / evening. I tend to get too busy to eat much during the day and then eat like a crazed cow in the late afternoon and evening.

I'm poking around on the site trying to get inspired enough to actually commit.

Re: Weight Watchers Online Anyone?

  • I haven't done it since they changed the points program, but when I did do it about 7 years ago, I lost 40 pounds.. It was extremely successful for me. I liked it bc I was able to "splurge" when I wanted to as long as I balanced it out. I also liked it bc at the time I wasn't big into exercising and I able to lose the weight without that. Now, I would probably want to add some exercise in this time around.. Although I'm still trying to find my motivation.. Breastfeeding has NOT been the weight loss secret I had hoped for lol.

Good luck! And if you decide to do it, maybe we can start a WW thread? I'm positive once I do get on the wagon, I'll be following that.

  • I did the online program when we were ttc and lost 20lbs over 6 months. I LOVED it. Having the app on your phone makes it super convenient. It takes some getting used to, but after about 2-3 weeks in it becomes second nature, especially once you know how many points all your favorite recipes and foods cost.

I signed up 2 months ago, but have had some issues. They give you a lot of points if you're breast feeding and I found I very rarely had to restrict what I ate, so it felt like I waste of money. I ended up lowering my allotted points which resulted in a supply issue. I emailed the company explaining my issue and they said it happens to some women who breast feed, some just need a higher calorie diet to keep up supply. They recommended to sign up again once LO was weaned (which I definitely will) and refunded me.

I'm not sure if that's any help at all, but it's my experience anyways.

This is me exactly. Hmmmm... perhaps a WWW (Weight Watchers Wednesday - LOL!) I like the lost 40 lbs with WW. That sounds promising.

This is my concern... I'm not one of those women who loses weight breast feeding so I'm not sure if I need the calorie allotment or not. I also don't want to screw with my supply too much... but I feel like lump.

So torn. I also am meeting with a personal trainer at my gym to get on a plan and trying to work my horse and I a little harder 2-3 days a week.

    Blah. Feeling... blah.

  • @bellaoso I'm completely game with a Weight Watcher Wednesday! Who needs the meetings when you have the A13 ladies?!? I do have one disclaimer... I was 20 when I lost 40 pounds so my metabolism was a bit more forgiving :-)

I am a little worried about what @zever000 pointed out.. My supply is subpar as is.. Let alone reducing my calories.. Eek. I guess bring on the H2O?!?

Except I've only actually thought about doing something about it rather than actually doing something about it. I have to save something for a new years resolution right?

    LOL! Very true!

I'm nervous for how bad I could mess myself if I continue like this through the holidays. At least if I went into Christmas with a plan I would feel better. Hmmmm....

We may need to look into this WWW idea. I would much feel better talking to you ladies about it than a strangers. Plus the postpartum aspect helps.

About the 20 y/o metabolism thing - I hear ya! I swear I turned 30 and it came to a screeching halt and I put on a set of saddlebags. :(

I feel blessed with my good, consistent supply and I don't want to screw with it... but I can't continue like this either. Mama needs to feel like a lady... not a heifer. :( Moo.

Did you find something you liked better you can suggest?

  • I know some of the ladies on here we're using my fitness pal .. Basically just counting calories.. And then exercising.. I just think I need more structure. Weight watchers was good bc it used numbers and numbers are my friend lol. Another thing.. My fitness pal has this thing where you can have friends and track your progress.. Wd could maybe do that? Still have the thread.. But maybe if a few of us were interested, we could all sign up and be weight loss buddies! I definitely need a support group.. Everyone keeps saying I need to give myself a break since I just had a baby.. But I want to feel like a lady again too! I'm afraid if I break too much more, there may be no point of return..

We sounds like we are in similar boats as far as needing structure.

I have to be honest though, I would probably only do the check ins 1 a week on here rather than fitness pal. Between the crazy tracking for LO's nursing issues, LO chiropractic appointments (2x a week), weekly lactation consultant meetings, keeping my show horse fit, running my business, keeping my toddler entertained, fed and clean, making meals that aren't craptastic, getting to the gym, and the holidays - I know I could respond to a thread with my successes and failures and goals for the week, but actually consistently checking in - I would probably poop out in the first couple of days.
    image

  • I hear ya.. The last thing We probably all need is another commitment to stress us out lol. That would probably make us eat more and produce less lol. Sometimes I swear God (or someone) is playing a sick joke :-)

Anyhow, I'll probably still do either my fitness pal or the "lose it" app to keep track of what I'm eating .. But I'm down with a weekly weight in thread. We don't need to necessarily share the actually number on the scale (unless you want to), but any gains/losses and like you said-goals, successes, failures .. Just a place to "meet"..

  • It was my thread! I have decided to wait till after the holidays..my short term goal(what i need to lose weight and stick to it) is to look good in a bridesmaid dress by october! I lost 60lbs last time around :)

Im still a member on WW online if anyone wants to start with me after the New Year! We can start a 2014 hotties group :) username: danadane75

Im also down for WW Wednesdays but I like the blogging thats on the WW website...

  • I just started tracking my points with WW online and working out last week. I lost five pounds. I know that's just the first week getting all the crap out of my system, but I love it! The extra points for BF mean I never feel hungry. Plus I find myself making smarter choices (most of the time) while I'm on the program. I've found a food scale to be super helpful with portion control. And I'd love to be a part of a WWW.
  • I signed up 3 weeks ago and am down 3.5 lbs already! I've had a loss both weigh-ins and feel good to see it go down. I'm definitely being more mindful of my food choices and increasing my water intake. Still can't cut out my Pepsi though. ;) I don't drink coffee so Pepsi is my caffeine.

Okay... I joined. Gonna see how this goes.

Who is with me on the "Weight Loss Check-In" on Wednesdays. We will probably call it WWW but let's just  say anyone can participate because a lot of WW is doable without signing up. Would hate to exclude folks who are just better figuring it all out on their own.

I am going to try to incorporate 2 tips for the kitchen they suggested by next Wednesday as well.

ETA: I have decided to treat it like Farmville or something. I did well at Farmville when I played it many years ago.

  • I would LOVE to join, only thing is I won't be able to sign up online. I DO have all the new points books and calculator. My mom snagged a few things for me at one of her WW meetings so I have everything I need. I'll have to find it though lol. I tried it before and it seemed to be alright.

I'm not really one to lose weight while breastfeeding, but I definitely know how to pack on the pounds pretty easy lol. Last year I cut out basically all junk food and did the insanity workout every night and lost 24 pounds :)

    I'm in!

I think we should just do a loosey goosey thing. Diet / exercise how you want, share successes and failures, and set goals. No set program. :) Glad to have you aboard!

  • I am not signed up online but I have the calculator and all the books and I've just been doing it by myself. So far I lost 5 lbs! I love WW and I've always had good success with it.

I'm in for the check ins. Sounds like an awesome idea :)
  • I did Michael Thurmond's six week body Makeover about 10 years ago and had huge success. So, after the ww failure I pulled put my info and did it. I was doing pretty good, till we got pregnant. It's basically just eating healthy and portion control.
My bff lost 40lbs last year by switching to mainly vegetarian. She read a book about eating for your bloodtype and it worked for her.

  • Good luck! I actually just canceled my membership, mostly because I wasn't taking full advantage of the program. I have successfully lost with weight watchers in the past, but have had trouble losing since they changed their plan. It could also be the slower metabolism and having 3 children.

I did want to recommend 'shrinking on a budget'. I have been using this website the past month and love it. You subscribe and they give you meal plans and grocery lists for the week. All meals have points calculated for you. Worth checking out!
  • Yay! I'm totally in! Looking forward to it :-) well.. Kinda .. ;-)

  • I joined WW in early October, and I've lost 8.6 pounds so far. I'd love to be part of any WWW or weight loss thread on here, so count me in! I feel like I'd be even more successful if I had other new moms to commiserate/share tips and recipes with.

  • Okay! Sounds like there are plenty of us who need to get some lbs off. I know I'm packing postpartum weight from 2 babies close together, plus the few pounds I had from before that. I'm going to guess I will be one of the ones at the higher end of the need to lose.

We can call it "Weigh In Wednesday". I will get together some questions for next week's post so we can make it be something really productive. Everyone can participate on whatever level they want. There will be a long term goal, a short term goal, the plan to get there, success and failures.

  • I do WW , I joined at the end of September. I go to the meetings and weighins at my local ww. I lost 10.4 pounds so far on it, which was the rest of my pregnancy weight, but now trying to lose the prior pg weight. Haha
  • I lost 37 lbs with it online before I got pg with Alexis. Once we started trying, I stopped following it so I could have lost more, but I lost my motivation.

  • I'm in! I've gained about 50lbs since I met H almost four years ago. Ugh!

     Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I've been doing WW for over a month. I've lost 7 lbs. I'm EBF'ing so I have a shit ton of points. I haven't been losing the past 3 weeks and my leader suggested lowering my points by a few bc I may not need them all despite that I'm nursing. Needless to say, I'm in for. WWW check in. Any extra motivation helps!
  • Yes I need some accountability! I have just been recording my calories on my fitness pal app on my phone. I have also started drinking one Shakeology shake a day for the past 2 weeks and am down 5 pounds!
With my pregnancy I gained 40 pounds. Ugh. A month PP I was down 20 pounds. Then the next couple months I gained 10 pounds back! I was worried about losing my milk with cutting calories. And I thought I NEEDED a bowl of ice cream every night! So I have stopped that and have been more conscious of what I eat.
I even work at a gym so I gotta get into gear! I have all the resources I need. Just need to stop being lazy
