And we're going to adopt.

So we were on the fertility roller coaster- not just dealing with being queer and trying to get pregnant with AI, but being infertile and trying the same thing. And I'm done with it. The fertility drugs make me feel like *** and given my age and PCOS history the chances of conception without IVF actually working were slim. So we're going to try adoption.

  • How are you planning to adopt? Domestic or international? Private? Foster-to-adopt?

  • JoySeattle,

We will be doing domestic infant adoption through an agency. While I'm pro-foster-to-adopt my partner, and my extended family, feel that the heartbreak options are too great to invest in that (not that they are necessarily less so with adoption, but they are different),  and with most international adoption adopting as a queer couple is impossible. At least in NYC, since we are legally married, we can adopt as a married couple, which is important for us.

To whoever said it was the best decision you made-- seriously? Can I say how much carrying around fertility issue *** was making me miserable? I feel nearly joyous now. A much better scenario for creating love for a wee one.

Thanks for the hearty welcome y'all.
