I'm not a big seafood person so I typically don't eat it when we go out. We're going to Red Lobster tonight for my dad's birthday. Since I don't normally eat seafood, I'm not quite sure what I should stay away from.
I went to Red Lobster a few times this pregnancy and had crab every time, so I'm assuming that's okay. I'm not sure what there would be to stay away from!
I'm sorry, I don't ever post on this board (since I'm obviously not in the 3rd tri anymore), but I couldn't help myself from responding to this post. Why don't you just stay away from the seafood on the menu since you "don't normally eat seafood"! Red Lobster has chicken, steak, and vegetarian dishes also. It's a "no brainer"!
Same type of fish you should avoid anyway - tilefish, swordfish, king mackerel, and shark. I doubt Red Lobster serves any of those so you should be fine eating anything.
If you've never eaten shellfish though and aren't sure if you're allergic, now probably isn't the time to find out.
Have a cheddar biscuit for me! Those are awesome...

Haha! My thoughts exactly! Although I may not have liked it because the first and only time we have been there was in my first trimester when everything tasted horrible -- including those overly seasoned cheddar bay biscuits. Ew.
Lobster, shrimp, and crab are just fine. Stay away from raw oysters. However, most people tend to stay away from those (I'm not one of those people and really want some). Still, that's a pretty big no brainer anyway. Hope you have a good meal!
