Happy Due Date fellow 8/29ers!

I know there are at least 3 of us on here. I am thinking Friday's Blue Moon is our time :) Any plans to celebrate tonight?

Re: Happy Due Date fellow 8/29ers!

  • Hello!! I'm so happy it's finally our EDD, but I would rather see my LO's sweet face lol. I'm only a fingertip dilated and not having any real contractions of any sort. I really hope I'm one of those people who go from 0-60 quickly. I plan to celebrate tonight by taking a long walk and doing squats, maybe bounce around on the exercise ball lol.

  • I'm actually REALLY hoping to go before the full moon. I'm sort of afraid that everyone and their sister will go into labor then, and I don't want to get stuck in a crappy triage room. Blargh. Come on, kid, be cool about this!

  • Happy Due Date Ladies!!!  Now that it's here I understand what people were talking about with the bump tickers.  I was all excited to see 40 weeks on there today with a due date marker but instead it reads baby's birthday - like he got the memo or something ;)  I was so annoyed I started to sing Happy Birthday to my bump to no avail :). He'll come when he's ready and I agree I'm thinking he's holding out for the Blue Moon.  Good luck to all of you today - here is to hoping at least one of us gets their due date baby!
  • Okay ladies with inside babies still - let's just try to remember the following things

    - The 40 week "due date" was developed in the 1800s by a German obstetrician that declared pregnancy should last 10 lunar months, which equaled 40 weeks. However we NOW know that a lunar month is actually equal to 29.5 solar days, which works out to 42 weeks. So maybe this German guy had it right all along but his data just got twisted.

    - The true average length of a human pregnancy is 40w+8d for first time moms, 40w+3days for 2nd+ time moms, when they are allowed to go into labor spontaneously

    -  Technically, you aren't considered overdue until 42 weeks.

    - There is still positive development happening in the womb between 40-41 weeks!

    - Our babies are now FULLY cooked and are at lower risk for breathing problems, jaundice and low blood sugar.

Hang in there ladies - our turn is next!
