I can't remember the exact model now, but we have a Safety First one that has great reviews. It has a lot more padding than most other seats we've looked at in the range of $150-$250. Great head support, easily adjustable etc.
We started out with Britax Roundabouts and they were really nice. They don't make the exact same ones anymore but I had a smaller car so it was nice to have a smaller seat. I also have smaller kids so they have lasted longer for me.
I recently got Radians(Diono) and I love those as well. They have allowed us to fit 3 seats in our Liberty so they were worth the price.

We bought a Diono Radian because it has the highest weight/height limits for rear facing of any carseat on the market, can be used forward facing with a 5 point harness until 80 pounds, and then as a booster after that. We won't have to purchase another carseat and I love that she'll transition to FFing and the seatbelt as late as possible.

I haven't bought it yet, but this is the one I'm looking at. DS can be rear facing up to 40lbs and harnessed up to 70lbs. Plus at $160, it's reasonably priced. If he still needs a booster after 70lbs (which I doubt), we'll just buy a separate booster later.

Have you looked at the Graco Size4Me? It is also a 70lb limit but it can rear face as longer than any other carseat now due to its headwings that extend. It is slowly hitting the market but can be found online and will be in stores next month. Some Targets are carrying a "test" fabric that Graco decided not to keep so you can check yours to see if they have it. I was lucky and picked one up in the "test fabric" for $125.

After 6 years of failed cycles, we were blessed with our little man through adoption.

How you like the radian so far? We ordered our first one but I'm nervous about the buckles, we were going to get a Graco but the new buckles are pretty hard to use and her gmom won't be able to buckle her easily. Fingers xx radian will be better but I couldn't find any in store so we took a chance and ordered online...

We have one thats like this. We love the head support. DD always falls asleep in it and she's nice and cozy in there.

I also have the Graco MyRide 65. We got it from Target for $115 on clearance.
Haven't used it yet, but it seems user friendly.
