DH really likes Colbie. He doesn't want to spell it Colby because he thinks it's more boyish that way, but I'm worried even spelling it Colbie is still too much of a boy's name.
It is different, which I like, but I'm still not convinced. Thoughts?
I like the name enough to name our male dog that, but not for a girl at all. I don't care how you spell it, it is a boys name. What about something like Oakley? Still a masculine name that is different, but still feminine.
It makes me think of my college, Colby which is named after the same guy who gave his name to the cheese. If you live in the northeast I would think you might get that question a lot.
I went to elementary school with a girl named Kolby so it doesn't seem too masculine, but it immediately makes me think of cheese. Sorry, I don't like it at all.
I really like names that are different and like boy names as girl names too but personally I have never been a fan of the name Colby for either sex because I always think of cheese.
But what matters is if YOU and DH like it---its your baby and no one elses!
My friend has an orange and white cat named Colbie... (As in colby cheese with a twist...) I don't care for it for a baby name because it reminds me of cats and cheese.

Makes me think of her too but it is totally NMS.
