Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Would it be rude for me to suggest to

my dad that he might want to trim his beard before coming out for Christmas?  DS is currently frightened of strange men, particularly those with big bushy beards.  When my dad trims his beard, it is pretty close to his face, but he lets it grow out until it hits his chest before he trims it again.

It took DS two days to get comfortable with my FIL over Thanksgiving, and my FIL is cleanshaven, and he sees DS at least once a month.  My dad hasn't seen DS since August.

  • Could you phrase it so it sounds like he is doing you and DS a favor?  I don't think your dad will have an issue with it.

  • I think you could just ask him. Especially since he does occasionally trim it. He doesn't want DGS afraid of him!

  • I think it would be rude NOT to let your father know that he has a better chance of DS warming up to him if he trims his beard.
  • Thanks!   I just shot an e-mail to my mom about it.  She should be able to tell him without hurting his feelings. :)  My dad can be touchy about his beard sometimes...
  • Just tell him your concern...DS has been fussy around men with beards or people he doesn't see often, tell him about FIL if it will help, and ask him if he minds trimming it down to save your sanity and so that he can enjoy time with DS.
