Tips for changing school

We are switching DD to a new daycare/school. Any tips for making it easier? She's goes full time.

  • Visit ahead of time, talk it up, I'm sure there are some books, but I don't know any right off...

  • I considered it for DD and my approach would have been, "Now that your a big, girl, almost FOUR, you are ready to handle the big kids school!"  My DD is obsessed with being a big girl so that would have been the charm, had we gone that route.  I agree, too see the school, and randomly say, "OH MY GOODNESS- I have a secret about X school!!!  I can tell you.... if you want.  Ok.  Mrs. Smith has a .....goldfish (or whatever looks fun in the room)!!!"  And feed her more occasionally until she is excited.

  • we talked it up alot before changing schools. we also told DD how she'll get to make a bunch of new friends and had a visit with the school. the new teachers were really nice and let DD stay with the kids for their snack time
