Also on July 2012 moms.
Anyone going through this? I read that crying peaks around 6 weeks and holy cow my baby has been cranky the last couple days. I was just starting to get the hang of this mom-thing and I was good at soothing her when she cried. Now none of those tricks work. Luckily her cranky time tends to be in the afternoon, so at least I'm getting some rest at night...knock on wood.
I was just starting to get out of the house more, but now I feel like I need to stay at home with her. I hear this can last a while too. Is it just due to a growth spurt or is it colic? Any suggestions?
Re: six week crying peak?
We're in week 6 now and I have to say this is SO much better than what went through in week 5! I was trying to wean off formula and exclusively breast feed so DD was latched ALL the time. She was fussy. I was exhausted. DH was freaking out worried that she wasn't getting enough to eat (weight gain indicated she was). AND there was mucus in her diaper leading to a food allergy diagnosis. So upset tummy? Growth spurt? Adjustment tno more formula? Who knows. To top it all off MIL was visit that entire week and I was a basket case and all she wanted me to do was sit with her when all I wanted to do was to be alone with DD and get her sorted without being watched constantly.
Speaking of..DD just started crying

My daughter will be 8 weeks on Friday and it's been miserable at least since week 5, if not before. Between each nap, I feed her then spend 3045 minutes getting her to sleep/stop crying. Her 6 week growth spurt was obvious because she ate so much more, but I don't think I ever got the hibernation that was supposed to follow...
She has reflux, gas, runny bms and really bad congestion at night so she spends her naps in her swing and now we exclusively put her in her car seat for night sleep. Two nights ago, she slept 5.5 hours, but usually sleeps no more than three or four. I'm exhausted and I think it's hilarious how much time I spent thinking about how to get her to sleep through the night as quickly as possible when I was pregnant. If I could have her wake up only once during the night then get back into a deep sleep not a loud, fussy sleep that makes us think she's always about to wake up, that would be wonderful!
