i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
I cannot even believe this is real!! Smoking while nursing??? I freaking hate smokers, all smokers, but to smoke while nursing your baby?? What the fck is wrong with you??? Did you seriously not expect a backlash? You are what is wrong with the world, I hope someone takes away your baby.
Smoking in a house with children pisses me off. Smoking while nursing your baby?! Are you kidding me? You are a horrible, disgusting person. Please put your baby first and stop this now before you cause her even more damage.
I don't understand why you cannot wait the 20 - 30 minutes to have a butt. Or leave your baby crying in its crib while you go outside for that precious cig? There is NO NEED to smoke WHILE feeding your child or in the same building for that matter. If you must, I guess just place the baby in a plastic bag and leave a hole big enough for their mouth. That should do the trick.
Nobody is perfect, but that doesn't mean you have to have such blatant disregard for your baby's health.
Ummm thanks I really am not looking for a lecture but just recommendations on the cover. I think I know what i'm doing here also its been proven that smoking while breastfeeding builds immunity to smoking. I'm trying to avoid second hand smoke and that's why I asked about a smoke proof cover to begin with.
Are you serious? You can't be this ignorant, no one can be this ignorant.
My mother smoked my entire childhood (she claims not while pregnant but yeah whatever). I'm ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHING INCLUDING TOBACCO SMOKE. I carry an epi pen because people are ignorant and smoke right at the doorways of businesses. If I don't have my epi and an inhaled steroid, my chest gets tight and I struggle for breath. I get allergy shots and still have allergy meds with me in addition to the epi.
Don't smoke while you nurse. You can wait for your smokes.
I hope your child isn't on the news because mom had to have her cig and the child was burned or worse died because embers fell on her clothing.
BJ Barbie is that you?
C'mon now! She can't smoke AND give a BJ AND nurse at the same time, can she? If so, that's some fine-ass multitasking.
My SO smokes (not around me unless we are in the car, except when DD is with us, and not in the house), and I literally try to escape the smell, and smoke anyway I can. We've been on a long road trip, and I literally stopped the car to get out, use the restroom, whatever...to just get away from it. I feel suffocated, and like I can't breathe.
Your child has no choice in the matter, but you subject you LO to it anyway? I'm sure they just love it.
This is the dumbest sh!t I have ever seen on here. An "immunity to smoking"????You're ignorant. I can't believe this is a real post.

I don't condone smoking around babies but heres some food for thought....
My mom smoked while pregnant with me and she breastfed me so I can only assume that she probably smoked while breast feeding every now and again.
I am alive....I was a gifted student and had no breathing or lung issues.
I know there are studies that prove how harmful smoking is....and I bet op knows that too. She is free to make her own decisions and being rude to her probably isn't the best way to get your point across. Find another way to validate the fact that you can read and make yourselves feel better about it because your wasting your time. She's stated several times that she is going to smoke.
It's amazing to me how many moms in the 2nd and 3rd trimester were able to defend drinking wine during pregnancy.
This is also proven to harm babies. And its a spectrum disorder so even though you may not think you harmed your baby....you may have.
Nobodys perfect. Maybe you should all go and join the perfect mom board!
Life and parenthood is a time for growth and learning, I will never be a perfect mom but I will do my best to protect and care for my baby.
Congratulations on being a gifted student, but this post is making you seem otherwise.
And, there are several doctors that will say that one glass of wine during the 2nd or 3rd tri will not be harmful to the baby. But I have NEVER heard/seen/read anything saying that smoking while breastfeeding is okay. Or any study that says that it builds immunity to smoking. Ever.
This is why I hardly post here! I asked a simple question and its being blewn out of portion. My baby is healthy and just fine, thank you. There has been lots of research showing that exposure builds immunity. I'm not on here to argue since you all must be doctors! I simply need a cover that will filter some of the smoke and provide somewhat of a barrier from ashes and what have you. If you can help with that I appreciate it anything else is unwanted opinions!
You're right. Most of us aren't doctors. I dare you to ask your child's doctor about his/her opinion on a flame retardant smoke proof nursing cover. Make sure to mention that you want to smoke while your child is actually latched and nursing. And please be sure to bring all of your "research" to the appointment. I'm sure your doctor would love to be enlightened about the benefits of smoking for infants.

THIS!! Please, I beg you, bring this up at your baby's next pedi appt.
Really??? My parents use to smoke in the house when my brother and I were little. We both have Asthma now and my poor brother was in and out of the hospital most of his childhood because of lung issues. I wish I had a picture to put up of him in his oxygen tent as a small child.
You are an adult, if you want to smoke fine that is your buisness. But making a decision to destroy your child's lungs for them is BS. Feed your baby then go outside and have a cigarette or at least stand in the door so the baby has a chance. By time my parents figured that trick out we were already messed up. There is no way that your baby is permanently attached to your boob, give me a break there is some down time for you to smoke and if there isn't you need to go see your pediatrician as to why your baby is not getting enough to eat requiring 24/7 feedings.

This. If there's nothing wrong with it, ask your pediatrician for cover recommendations. I bet you hesitate to do that BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT'S WRONG. Stop trying to justify it. And whoever told you about this "building immunity" thing lied to you.

Personally, I think both are a bad idea, but at least with the drinking part, I have pretty much the entire medical establishment going against me. Can't say the same for the smoking. And "no one is perfect" is a shiitty excuse for deliberately doing something that will probably harm your child.
Ummm thanks I really am not looking for a lecture but just recommendations on the cover. I think I know what i'm doing here also its been proven that smoking while breastfeeding builds immunity to smoking.

but I also will add no where does it say you should smoke around your baby at all. What it says is a mom who cannot quit SHOULD breast feed. It does not say it is a good idea to breastfeed and smoke at the same time. Also it says it builds a better immune system to breast feed but a better immune system and smoking over a kid never goes hand in hand.
Smoking is bad period and to me this seems like a cop out. Your f*cking up your own health and who ever else is around you.

The reason they don't make that is because you shouldn't do it.
Also, people still smoke in their homes? I thought people only did that back in the 60s. Go outside like a normal person (and I say this as a former smoker. All "inducing asthma in your baby" aside - who wants their whole house to smell like that?)
For other moms that are smokers could you please recommend your nursing cover. I'm trying to find one that is lightweight and comfy for baby but also smoke and flame retardent. I was looking at the hooter hider but couldn't find any safety info for it.
I wish I knew you IRL so I could call child protective services on you - this has got to be the most selfish and ridiculous post I've seen on here.
We're still waiting on your sources that show that smoking around a baby builds their immunity to it. You suck as a mother and as a person!

Builds immunity to what? Are you aware that it takes 3 hours for nicotine (highly addicting) and all the other terrible chemicals to leave your breast milk and you are not supposed to breastfeed within 3 hours of breastfeeding. Do some research before you expose your baby to something so terrible!

I have an idea, why don't you put a garbage bag around your head while your smoking...?
I quit smoking while I was pregnant and breast fed for 3 weeks..I wanted to smoke again so I quit breastfeeding because the idea of feeding my son nicotine upset me. I smoke outside not in the car, in the basement let alone NEAR him. Be an adult and just wait to fufill your selfish need to smoke until your child is fed and relaxing. I cannot imagine the massive amounts of nicotine your child is drinking up in your BM especially if you smoke so much you can't even wait until hes off your boob.
Being a mother means you sacrifice for your child. You obviously love smoking more than your baby.
All I have to say is WOW! What is wrong with you to think that you know what you are doing and that it is in any way okay to smoke while you baby is breastfeeding. This is not okay and NOTHING you do will cause immunity to smoke. That is the most ignorant thing that I have EVER heard. Your main concern should be your child, and not smoking just because she is always eating. I am sorry but you need to be trying to stop smoking for the safety and health of you and your child, a nursing cover will not help to stop the smoke from reaching her.
You say it will build an Immunity? Smoke isn't an illness! That's like saying if You put your baby in hot water it's going to make her fire proof. Double-You Tee EFF!
Oh dear... Maybe I shouldn't have said that because now you're probably going to try and do it.

I understand not being able to quit. Even though I am not a smoker, I know that it is addicting.
with that said, I can't believe how completely callow and selfish you are. Seriously, put your baby's needs above your wants and be a responsible parent. Smoke outside, away from the baby.
How can you smoke and breastfeed, do you have 3 arms or something?
You just rest the cigarette in the baby's ear while latching. It's like a cute little ash tray.
If you want to build "smoking immunity" why the need for a cover? And does this immunity prevent them from smoking?
And to the poster that keeps defending her (for what reason I still can't figure out) since you have such a huge problem with drinking but not smoking, what about the potential for burning the baby? That's ok too?
