Why can't people have enough respect to call?!?!? I had my shower yesterday and only 12 out of the 35 showed up and only 3 called to said they couldn't come!!!! I was so upset!!! SO many left over cupcakes and food it was very disappointing!!!!!!

I had pretty much the same issue at ours, 30 people invited, about 14 showed up. I already knew a few who couldn't because of work firefighters but I thought if anyone else couldn't go they'd call our hosts. Needless to say, they didn't.

It didn't bother me too much accept the hosts had put on a beautiful shower, graphically designed out invites by hand abd had made each decoration by hand. And I felt like an idiot for inviting certain friends when this whole pregnancy they've not been interested and my husband has said they wouldn't come. I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Aww what a shame. I'm sorry to hear, what a disappointment. You can look at it as the friends who showed are the ones who mattered, the ones who called had enough respect to do so and the ones who didn't call or show will probably be absent for a lil while feeling guilty about it? Idk, thats my opinion. The main thing is you had people there to support you and even if only 2 people showed it was the thought that counted. FWIW my grama let the cat out of the bag that her church friends were planning a shower for me...i was kind of upset because i like the element of surprise. Well I'm in my 33rd week now and it doesn't look promising that I will be having one

I wish my grama never told me about it. But I have to be thankful for what I have right?

Awe! So disappointing! I'm so sorry! But I'm sure the important people were there and it was still a fun getting together! But what a bummer! Did you get everything you need?

That stinks and I totally understand your disappointment! It really bothers me whenever people are not on top of things like that.

Note: I am not flaming you, but you might get flamed - just a heads up. I wouldn't XP this on the baby showers board, because they would eat you alive for this.

That really sucks! Some people are so inconsiderate. That is one of the reason I hate regrets only invitations. You have no real way of following up.

Same thing happened with my sister's shower last year. Regrets only as RSVPing really just doesn't work. Sad

Agree- I usually advocate for invites to JUST say RSVP because if someone can't bother to reply, it usually means they won't bother to attend. Sorry OP!

that is the reason I don't like saying regrets only. I like to harass people who don't respond and get a definite answer one way or another. I have found that so many people don't respond when it is regrets only. I don;t think it is flame worthy to be disappointed the host makes plans based on how many people will becoming and it is a waste for the hostess when people no show especially when it is over 1.2 the people. I hope you had fun with the people who showed

That's a shame. I hosted a bridal shower yesterday and out of the 76 people invited, only about 15 rsvp'd. We had to send facebook messages, texts, and phone calls to the rest to try to get a better idea of how many we would have. People are TERRIBLE about sending rsvp's these days.
