Mine is 2.5mi from home. It takes me 45-60min to get there on public transit door to door. A taxi would only be 10-20min depending on traffic. It is one block away from my work though

My rainbow is finally here February 7, 2013
Well, my hospital is about 2-2.5 hours from my house...or 180ish miles. From my work it's about 110ish miles or 1.5 hours. Its a commute :-)
with your hospital being so far what are your plans when labor starts? or will the drive not be a factor?
The drive is what it is...we live in a very rural area of Texas and while there is a hospital near us they do not have a NICU or even a regular ICU, there is not a doctor available for emergency C-Sections. If there are any complications I or the baby would have be flown via helicopter to the hospital we are going to anyway.
A lot of women around is area make this drive. My doctor doesn't anticipate any complications, but I go to the doctor a lot and she keeps a really close eye on me.

I don't mean for this to sound snarky whatsoever, but not every complication is foreseeable. Keeping a close eye on you is great, sure, but when push comes to shove (no pun intended) you or your doctor really have no idea what could happen. Obviously it's a better choice to go to the hospital that is equipped to handle a situation rather than one that isn't, it just sucks that it's so far away!
That being said, I'm glad that you aren't worried about the drive. It seems like you're pretty comfortable with it. It took 32 hours from my water breaking to actually delivering my son, so I'm kind of banking on the fact that I'm not going to have a fast L&D this time.
Mine is about an hour. There are closer, but my sister, husband, and mother in law insist on this one, it is the best. My big worry is that since it'll be rainy season, my bridge may well be underwater, and I may have to do a 45 minute 4x4 trip through the bush while in labor. That would really suck. And Murphy's law seems to be strictly enforced around me..
Only a 5 minute drive away. I've know others who have used the same hospital and were very happy so I know that is at least one thing I won't be worried about when I'm about to pop, if no one is home I can always knock on the neighbors door and get a ride LOL
Our nearest hospital is about 20 miles away. However, after meeting the high risk maternal fetal medicine doctor, we are being transferred to that hospital which is over an hour away!
We will stay with out local doctor for monthly and weekly visits and drive to the specialist once every 2 months. Once we reach 35 weeks, we will have to transfer to the specialist and have to make the hour drive every week.
This is my first baby so I'm hoping labor goes slow! Slow enough for us to make the hour drive in the middle of the night (and most likely in a February snow storm because that's my luck)!!

Home in the bush.

It's about a 20 minute drive without traffic, with traffic its more like 40 minutes.
DH was delivered at a hospital that was 10 minutes with traffic! That was nice!
