Feel bad for saying this but...I'm glad my In Laws are gone!

My in-laws came up for Florida to visit this week. They had just got in on Wednesday and wanted to stay with DH and I for a couple nights because we just bought a new house and they wanted to to check it out. DH and i busted out butts to get the entire place clean before they showed up. It was perfect and everything looked great! I was able to relax and enjoy their company.

Well...after a couple of hours into their visits, i was already irrirated. First off, they are like a walking pharmacy, our entire coffee table was covered with bottles of medication. Not only that, there were receipts, bottles of water, and just more random crap scattered all over the table. If that wasnt enough, they didnt take their shows off, my hubby had just steamed cleaned the carpet! Now, we have dirt and grass all over the carpet. UGH!

This was just night one. i thought that maybe when i went to work and came home the next day that maybe they would have picked up after themselves...but NO! the mess seemed to have extended into our dining room & bathroom, where there were more bottles of crap bags of makeup, towels on the floor and clothes. Oh and to top it off, they clogged our toilet.

Needless to say..i am happy that they have left to stay at the SIL's. They are a sloppy mess!

  • yikes!! i would have been a frazzled mess watching that happen in my home. my in-laws are good about corralling their mess and i love having them visit, but i'm still always happy to get my house and little family back when they leave.
  • OMG, MIL was here this past weekend for my shower, and I couldn't be upset bc she worked her butt off to make up for my SIL's lame-a$$ed attempt to make the food.  But, now she's back with us tonight: payback...

  • I totally get you on this! My in-laws came in late July and stayed with us for 3 days. We just bought a house, so DH and I spent last 2 months (all weekend, every night after work) busting our butts working on our house with decorating, painting, etc. - including the guest room! My MIL (a self described "Eeyore" since before even my husband was born) ripped our house, neighbor, town, and even the state of Texas to shreds!! Small comments ("I can see your neighbors are NOT fans of yard work" "You guys still have a LOT of work to do here") really got under my skin and felt like a kick in the teeth after working so hard on the house and getting it ready for them.

I've been telling my husband to send them Expedia coupons for hotels for when they come visit when the baby is born :) I'm going to have a crying baby, I can't take a whining mother in law!!

  • Oh no, that stinks! Sounds like my MIL...she settles in within minutes! And she has a shopping addiction, so when she comes she buys more crap than she can pack to go home with. Thankfully they are planning on staying in a hotel over Thanksgiving once LO is born...I'm not running a B&B! Glad that they left!
