My friend just posted a picture of her daughter sitting in a Bumbo on top of an ottoman. I cannot imagine how it can be sturdy on there. Plus, there is no strap so I'm wondering if she knows about the recall.
Yeah, cuz the strap is going to somehow protect her head if she tips from the ottoman. How about don't put it on the elevated surface like it says. I'm judging with you!

A friend of mine invited me to go swimming with her and her four-month-old and two-year-old son. While we were sitting on the deck around the pool, she put the baby in his vibrating chair on TOP of the patio table. She didn't strap him in and she walked away. I was across the deck and watched as he started to slide out of the chair... I literally rocketed across the deck and caught him as he fell out of the chair. He would have fallen four feet, hit the deck and probably rolled into the pool.
I didn't judge her because I know she would never mean to hurt him, but it just goes to show how quickly things happen.

Wow hun, I am totally judging her! I am sure 99% of the parents out there that neglect their child for a moment, or more, would never "intentionally" hurt their children. But reality is, when you are a parent and you do something stupid and irresponsible like leaving an infant on an elevated surface, you are tempting fate, asking for trouble, however you want to put it, and you are knowingly putting your child in danger. Especially by not even buckling the kid in, over a hard surface, and by a body of water? That was bad parenting.
As far as the Bumbo thing, if parents are still putting those stupid seats on elevated surfaces and stepping far enough away to take a photo, yes I judge them too. They are asking for it. Kids move, they jerk around, infants cannot control their bodies yet and those bumbos do not stay in place. It only takes a split second for that thing to tip and out goes baby onto the floor to get its first concussion or worse.
I'm sure plenty of people have put their kids where they dont belong and nothing happened so they justify their actions but those same parents will cry woe is me when something does happen and their poor child is injured. There is nothing I have to get done, no photo opp, no seating preference, or whatever, that is ever important enough to put my child's health and safety at risk.
It couldn't hurt to give her the recall info, in case she hasn't seen it. I agree it's dumb to put the seat on an elevated surface, but I don't think FB is the place to call out other people's parenting.
An ottoman is kind of a strange spot to mistakenly put a Bumbo seat, it's so low and uneven you would think the floor would be easier anyway. To be honest I'm kind of thankful to read these kind of posts b/c as a soon-to-be FTM it helps me learn from other people's mistakes.

Re: Judging a friend's Bumbo use
Bump burp.
If you think that is bad...
