  I would pronounce it Erin with a Y. So Yair - rin. I have not seen it...I don't really like it either.

  Honestly, I would pronounce it Yer-in so basically urine.  It's possible that if it is an ethnic name that the parents were not aware of how similar the two sound.

  I had a little girl in class named Yerin and she was Korean.  It rhymed with Karen.
