Preemies

New preemie mom looking for advice

My little girl is 34 weeks premature. We brought her home 3 days ago and every night she is completely restless the whole night. It kind of looks like she is sleeping, but she moves, squirms, grunts and whines the entire time. (never crying) I feel SO BAD for her. I just don't know what to do to make her feel better. I worry she isn't sleeping. If I hold her she sleeps soundly, but that isn't really possible to do all night. Does anyone have advice? I would appreciate it!

  • Have you tried giving her some background noise?? My son had a hard time sleeping when it was quite. I got a sleep lamb with ocean sounds it worked like a charm.

The Rock n Play (RNP) was an absolute life-saver for us.  Adalyn has reflux issues, and when we first brought her home, she slept in that thing until we transitioned her to the crib a couple of months ago.  She definitely slept better in that thing than in the PNP that we have (with her laying flat).  I also second the Sleep Sheep--best gift I ever received.  We still use it, and foresee using it for a long time to come.  Hell, I'll probably use it for myself! Actually, I've found myself dosing off when I hear it over the baby monitor! Smile
