Anywhere you can fit it! You'll get used to your house being over ran by baby gear! Lol

  • I would love to know the answer to this dilemma. I keep telling DH that we don't have space for all the baby things AND his instrument collection AND his record collection. I do not have any large items taking up room in our living space. He has a n electric drum set and a keyboard that he never touches. He swears there's plenty of room and it's fine. I say that I'm not so sure we can fit all the things I want in the nursery in that room AND keep his old bed in there. We have no place else to keep the bed, and he loves it. He swears there's plenty of room. The first time he trips over al that crap he'll be howling though. Ugh. Boys.

  • We are minimalists and I take it very seriously.  I live by the philosophy "if it doesn't have a place, it goes".  We have exactly 3 tubs (3 too many, IMO, but husband insisted) in our garage for storing things (mostly camping, fishing, and travel gear).  None of them are full or ever have been.  I don't tolerate junk laying around, and I don't store things for a rainy day.  If I can't make it digital (documents, photos, etc), I take a picture of it and then donate it.  I can't stand "stuff" stashed here and there all over my house.  Needless to say, if this baby's stuff doesn't fit in his room or his bathroom in its place (with exception to his stroller, which is hanging in the garage in it's place), it is doesn't come in at all.  The best way to avoid looking for places to stash things is to buy things as you need them.  Newborns don't need much, and when they're done with that stuff, you can replace it with new gear you need.

I refuse to stockpile baby gear "just in case", or pack away in boxes in backs of closets or basements for some other time.  When he grows out of it, it's goes to consignment/Craigslist/Goodwill.

Currently the car seat is in the crib and the stroller is folded up on the only available floor space in the baby's room. Lol.  I have no idea where we're going to keep the stroller, to be honest.  I'm no help at all.  Smile

That sounds like how our room looks. LOL, its hard to vision it all done.
  • I was wondering about this too! My LO's room currently is the "dumping ground" for clothes, toys, stroller, huge swing, bouncy seat, exersauer, etc. There isn't even room for a crib or dresser yet. I'm not sure where to put the "stuff"!

  • All the gear A grew out of went in his closet.  Most fold up/break down so they don't take up as much room, but they are still annoying in his closet (I HATE clutter).

  • I plan on keeping the stroller either in the garage or my trunk, his car seat is currently in our basement and we aren't doing a swing, just a bouncy seat. Once he outgrows that it will be put in storage. Pack n play will be kept folded until we need it and that's it. We keep that in our storage room too. Bassinet the will stay in our room and in LOs room we have a crib, dresser, glider and bookshelf that is storing his books and toys. I have all his clothes washed and hung organized by size. It's the bath stuff I'm worried about. His tub will probably live in our shower and I have an Ikea shelf that's for his toilettries and diaper creams. Storage storage storage.
  • I also found an under the bed storage bin at Walmart for extra sheets, playmat and blankets that I slid under his crib.

ditto to this.  We have a 4 BR house and still felt overtaken by baby stuff after our DD, just because most of it tends to be where you spend most time (living room, etc...)  For this reason, I would recommend getting a smaller sized swing.  That baby took up lots of room.  I also kept the pack n play set up in the room we use least on main level where she napped, and also so I could stash all kinds of neccessities in there (diapers, wipes, burp cloths, change of clothes, etc...)

  • Our house looked like a daycare for about a year. I left it all out so we could use it when needed. I'm sure others on here did a better job of keeping things put away, but everything is so large and you never know when you will need the swing, bouncy, exersaucer, etc.

  • Stroller stays in the trunk of your car, because if something happens and you ACCIDENTALLY leave home without it you will be sorry. Swing and bouncy stay out in our living room 100% of the time, because it's not worth putting it away to get it back out an hour later.
