Random question about plants at work - are you taking them with you?

I have a little jade plant in a teacup that sits on my desk at work. I'm going back and forth on whether I drag it home with me (walking a couple blocks, train ride, then car ride) or do I trust one of my co-workers to take care of it...

Anyone else taking their plant home? I"m so glad I have these "big issues" to concern myself with :)

Re: Random question about plants at work - are you taking them with you?

  • I don't have any plants at work, but I have a lot of personal items that I've gotten on my trips abroad (I'm a French teacher) and I boxed them all up and brought them home...not knowing who would be in my place I didn't want to run the risk of anything getting broken, lost, stolen, etc.  I also will be out basically the entire year though, so that's different...if it was only 6-8 weeks or something I'd probably have let it go.

  • jade plants are very sensitive to change...just an FYI...I would leave it there and ask a co-worker to look after it so it does not die when you take it home, esp if it has sentimental value

I asked a friend to water my plant last time. I was out 13 weeks and it survived.

  • I've not been in this situation, but unless there is a resident green thumb in your office who you know is great with plants, I'd probably take it home. :o)
