Because I feel like I've been posting this all over the place, I thought I'd just create a post and share here.
As I mentioned below, please don't buy your pump until you call your insurance. Due to Obamacare and the changes made August 1, insurance companies are required (when your plan renews) to cover breast pumps, breast pump supplies (bottles, tubing, caps, etc.), lactation consultant visits (even to your home!) at 100% with no copay or deductible.
Please call your insurance first before you buy a pump!
(The link to the post where I explained more fully and put in diagnosis codes and billing codes is here: https://thenaptownorganizer.blogspot.com/2012/08/dear-obamacare.html if you are interested in the technical details of what is covered. But still, seriously, call your insurance company to be sure of when your plan renews!)
Re: FYI Breast pumps- you may not have to buy it OOP!!
It's rare for an organization to be grandfathered in and not required to cover this. My DH's employer falls into this group, because they are a self insurered government agency. They also get out if a lot of HIPPA laws too. More than likely you are covered under this new coverage, so don't just take no for an answer.
Everyone really does need to call their insurance company directly. Unfortunately, my insurance company is exempt from this and won't cover a dime.
Good Luck to you ladies, I hope you find good information. But I wouldn't recommend getting you're hopes up. I was rather excited, only to be disappointed in the end.
So far according to my health insurance (I have BCBS Federal) they won't be covering them.
For me, this is at the bottom of my list of shiit to worry about. I have bills that MH's been fighting between the OB's office and my insurance that should be paid for and aren't.

Thank you for sharing this info. I don't know what my carrier covers yet, but it is great to know to look into it.
Thanks!
Since it is still a really new thing, I'd wait and call back closer to our due dates. The person I spoke to had to consult her supervisor several times because she wasn't exactly sure. I know in my dealings with insurance companies for work, a lot of the times, when something new goes into place, it takes a little while for all the companies to catch up, even when they are supposed to 'go into effect' on a certain day. And I hear you on fighting insurance as well, we've had a few bills that I've had to pay so far that I shouldn't have, thankfully my doctor's office actually reimbursed me for several that they made me pay- to check in at the kiosk at our office you have to pay your balance first... which I find to be really dumb considering I wasn't paying because I shouldn't have had to, obviously because they did reimburse me.
