Baby Bjorn or Other?

I trying to decide on a baby carrier like the baby bjorn.  This is the only one I know of or have heard of, but I see there are tons of options for other brands and styles. If you have used any kind of carrier that you wear, what did you choose and what did you like about it or not like about it?  What would you say is the best choice...my friend says go with the bjorn, but she's a brand lover....I just want something is comfortable (i am only 5' 2) and will hold baby comfortably while keeping my hands free.  i want quality, but I'm not stuck on the brand.  Thanks.

Re: Baby Bjorn or Other?

  • I don't recommend the bjorn, and I know many other moms on here would agree. It isn't good for the baby to have their crotch dangling like that. Look into getting something like an Ergo.

  • I have an ergo but found it to be really uncomfortable and hard on my back.  I do know that other have it and use it all the time and love it.  I am thinking of getting a bjorn this time because it looks like it would be a lot easier on my back.  Most baby boutiques will have demos of all the carriers that you can try so my advice is to go try them all and see what works for you.

  • We loved the bjorn and used it all the time!  I had tested out a few of the other "off" brands, and honestly..  they weren't comfortable & just felt cheap.  A friend of mine just got the K'tan and raves about it.. especially because you can use it when LOs are newborns.  I think we'll check that one out for #2.

  • I had a Bjorn but I never used it. It hurt my back SO bad, even when DS was only like 8 weeks old. I'm still trying to find one for this baby that will work. I'm thinking I may go with the Ergo, but I'm not sure yet.

  • I would check out either yhe Ergo or Beco.  I have a Beco Gemini and really like it.  I am 5'3" and petite and it is very comfortable.  You can also use it righy away without using an infant insert like with the Ergo.

  • I had a Bjorn with my daughter and used it every single day (starting at maybe 8 weeks) until she was at least 1. She loved it and was so happy whenever we went walking. Even though it's the brand name, Bjorn is the cheapest of the "nice" carriers, as long as you just go with the classic (about $70), which in my opinion is perfect.
  • My mom got DH the bjorn. She slept great in it but oh my back!! Then we got the Ergo Sport on babysteals one lucky day. I still use it and DD is getting close to 2. The last time I used it was at the airport and it was a godsend. Right now the red one I linked is only $85 which I don't think is much more than the bjorn.

  • We have the Beco Butterfly and love it. Then it started to hurt because my child is large for his age, so I got the Boba on Babysteals and it.is.AWESOME. I also want to get a Baby K'tan for this one for the newborn stage.

  • I have the Bjorn. I really liked it and so did my LO. But it's not as comfortable on my back as I think other carriers can be. My lust is the Beco Gemini. It does forward and rear facing. I would look into seeing if there is a boutique nearby to try on the different carriers.

  • i am going for the Boba 3G carrier...

No infant insert, better height to avoid toddlers falling off.. overall better feedback and really, no negatives that i have read!

    This.

  • We have the bjorn comfort carrier. It is not the traditional one and resembles the ergo a bit. DS always faces me in it.

  • Other. K'tan or Moby for the 0 - 3 month stage and Ergo for the 4+ month stage.
