I can't seem to find anyone with a similar story to mine for advice.
I will be 35 wks with mono-di twins in 2-3 days. I haven't had a single complication, not even excessive weight gain. The docs say my twins are larger (last weighed 4lbs 11/12oz each and I'm not dialating yet. They say I should go all the way. In fact, both are had down, so they are even in position. I'm not rushing it, but.. I dunno looking for someone to tell me what happened w them. I don't want to be induced or to push it too much. I want to go to 40 wks, but ppl keep saying I won't want that. I don't even know why.
Advice? Stories? Anything?

Re: About 35wks, not,dialating
I had my twins 4 weeks ago at 38w1d and except for one trip to LD at 33 weeks for some contractions,I had a decent PG.
I had a RCS since my first LO was a c-section and my babies ebded up coming via c-section a day before the planned C.I started having contractions and they decided to just move the C up a day.
I do not know if I was dialated at that time.I know I wasn't at 33 weeks. So it is possiable to go to the end.But things can also change very fast.Since I had a c, my Dr's did not want me going past 38 weeks. But if this was going to be a vaginal delivery they would have let me go to 39 weeks.
The reason you may not want to go to 40 weeks is that you will most likely be done by then.I felt OK at 35 weeks but by week 36-38 I was a mess.I wanted the babies to cook but I was also over feeling so big and uncomfortable and not sleeping.
Just take it one day at a time and as long as the babies are doing well and you are OK, it is good.

My story was similar to yours. I didn't have any complications other than being huge and uncomfortable. But at my 38w check, I was going weekly at the end, I had low platelets and my babies were both sideways, so they just did my c section that day to not risk my platelets getting any lower.
But, I didn't dilate or go into labor. It was pleasant, my babies were 5lb14oz and 6lb4oz and all 3 of us went home after 3 days in the hospital. I was lucky and am so grateful, best wishes to you on a healthy delivery for u and babies!

Youre at 35 weeks and your Dr hasn't said how far they'll let you go?
Oh
Why, in heavens name would anyone want to be 40 weeks with twins is beyond me. Average gestation for twins is 36 weeks, and full term for any pregnancy is 37 weeks. I was very similar to you, but I was absolutly friggin miserable by 36 weeks and I had my cs at 38 weeks 1 day. But the night that I had them I started contracting on my own anyway.
The reason for taking them early is that the placenta starts to break down, a very serious situation for the babies.
OMG! I'll be 36 weeks on Thursday and I read your post and thought the very same thing.. I haven't had 1 complication, i've gained about 30lbs, my twins are currently weighing 5.5lbs and 5.15lbs. My twins are not in position and if nothing happens "naturally" in the next 2 weeks we'll have a c-section on the 30th. I'm not trying to rush it either but I'm about to throw the towel because I'm exhausted.
I don't think any sane OB or midwife will push a twin pregnancy past 38 weeks at least mine said NO WAY (thank god for that).
I don't even want to go 37 weeks- I want to get this party started because my pelvic ligaments are stretched to the limit anymore and I won't be able to walk. So just keep in mind that this is when the babies gain most of their weight and in a couple of weeks you'll know what I'm talking about....
Good luck!
I tried to be nice in your other post, but the comment "I don't even want to go to 37 weeks" just pisses me off. Do you know how many MoMs that have spent their whole pregnancy going into labor and on bed rest and medication are praying everyday to reach 37 weeks their babies get the best start possible? I'm one of them and for me, you sound selfish. I know you're miserable, but you're almost there. Every single day counts at the end.
This is my siggy. Love it.
At my first OB appointment after I found out that I was expecting twins, my doctor advised that even though my due date was September 27, 2012, she would not let me deliver past the 38th week. That is the policy of my practice. I was curious about this, so I did some research. According to what I read, it's actually more dangerous to deliver twin babies after 38 weeks. In fact, the incidence of stillbirth for twins goes up in a significant enough fashion after 38 weeks that most doctors will not let you deliver after that point.
Another reason you don't want to go to 40 weeks has to do with the placenta. Placentas often start to fail early with twins. My MFM felt the ideal time to deliver twins was 37-38 weeks.
I had a no complication mo/di pregnancy, but at my 36 week appointment my BP was up, I started to spill protein in my urine, and my twin B wasn't growing as fast as he should. That combination of factors made my MFM decide to induce at 37 weeks.
My induction went very smoothly. I actually only had the misoprostil to start my cervix ripening, and then my water broke and I went into labor on my own - no pitocin. It was a great experience, and everyone did well. We spent one extra night in the hospital due to one of the boys having jaundice, but all went home together.
Perhaps if you read the post correctly you would note the top part that says "I'm not trying to rush it either but I'm about to throw the towel because I'm exhausted."
The original post was asking if anyone has also experienced being 35 weeks and not dilating and having a perfectly healthy multiple pregnancy, and I have. I do understand that there are plenty of other MoM out there that have had tons of complications and I feel blessed to have come as far as I have without my babies having had any complications. This mom has also been blessed with not having had any complications and in MY PERSONAL OPINION I don't believe she should over extend her babies to a 40 week term it may be dangerous and from what I've read most of us don't make it that far anyways... My jump starting labor post was me asking other MoM if they had ever gotten any advice on how to safely jump start labor (ei: sex, orgasms, etc), which also MY midwife and OB suggested would be perfectly safe. So if I sound selfish it's probably because I still maintain a full-time job, I'm carrying 30 extra pounds, I barely sleep, and I can barely walk- so I apologize for PISSING YOU OFF with MY OPINIONS!
Ummm yeah - I'm all of the bolded as well and am having a really hard time sympathizing or agreeing with you at all - although in theory it would be great to be "done" being pregnant I realize (as well should you after hearing all the other responses of the MoMs in your other post that had babies at 35 and 36 weeks spend time in the NICU) that it is in the best interest of our babies to go as long as possible. Wanting to go (or even try to "jump start labor") prior to 38 weeks because you are uncomfortable is SO selfish - and I would ABSOLUTELY side-eye any doctor that gave you the go-ahead to do so. Them saying "we would not do much to stop labor if it happens at this point" does not equal "try to have them now!" Obviously you haven't spent much time around here to see how many MoMs have had babies tragically early or you would understand why it rubs a lot of people the wrong way.
Exactly. I agree that the OP in this thread shouldn't have to go to 40 weeks. That doesn't mean I can't think it's selfish of you to try and have yours prior to 38 weeks. I know you're miserable, but all MoMs are at the end. It doesn't mean you press the eject button so that you can feel better while rolling the dice with your newborns.
