It sounds very religious to me, or I think of Zion National park. I've never heard it as a name before.
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements
March 11, 2014 ovulated despite every doctors prognosis!!!
Oct 2014 hormones (FSH 48, Estradiol 89, HCG 1) not good, but heckuva lot better!
Nov. 16, 2015 FET of single adopted 5AA embryo - BFN
Curious as to what the opinions are of the name Zion (for a boy)?
My cousin chose this for his youngest son. It suprised me at first because it was a pretty bold choice for our family. We have alot of James, David, Jason, ect. But it fits him rather well. They aren't incredibly religious so I don't make that association.
I like it. It's not my style but I would not side eye it.
I used to love this name but completely changed my mind when someone on this board asked me to research the very radical Zionist movement before choosing to give a child that name. I suggest you do the same.

I would NOT think they are Jewish... just doesn't seem like a Jewish name to me, even though it refers to the Jewish state.
I am a religious Jew and this name would never cross my mind.
I would assume the child's parents were super duper religious Christians.
I agree. I am a non-religious Jew and Jews don't use this name. I would also assume religious Christians.
I was thinking Christian fundamentalist.
Same here. She has a beautiful song about her son, "To Zion."
But I'm not religious, so I don't get the biblical reference...?
I think of Bob Marley :
"I'm gonna be iron, like a lion, in Zion...."
This is what I was thinking. I live in SLC and I've heard Zion on the playground a few times.
