Up until recently DS put himself to sleep in crib after a few minutes of fussing, and refused to let me rock him to sleep. Also when laid him on his back, he would roll over to his side or stomach and sleep. Now it has been the exact opposite for 3 days. It took me two hours to get him to sleep in crib last night. I let him CIO. Then just a few minutes ago, laid him down with the intention of letting him CIO again. Well I was cooking dinner with baby monitor and his cries started getting muffled so I ran in there. He was on his stomach, with his whole fist shoved in his mouth chocking/gagging. His face was red and this was the first time he's ever had real tears. I've never been so scared in my life as I was in those 30 seconds. Needless to say I'm not trying CIO for a while so idk what to do.

Re: moment of pure fear!
That sounds really scary and unpleasant to have had experienced.
I tried CIO with DD for like 3 minutes earlier this week and then just went in and gave her the pacifier ... she whimpered in her sleep for the next 2 hours as a result
