Not sure what we are having yet, but DH and I are tossing out names, we are on the same page as to a name with family ties. Elliot is the middle name of my Grandfather as well as my brother. I like it more for a girl than for a boy and was just curious to other people's take on the name. DH doesn't care for it for a girl...or a boy, just wondering if I'm alone in the fact that I think it's cute for a girl. Could be Elle or Ellie as a nickname.
Re: Elliot for a girl?
I hate it for a girl. Here are some past threads about the same thing:
Elliott for a girl....
Elliott for a girl
Too me it is completely a boy name. As pp said, there are so many lovely girl names that will give you the nn Ellie.

It's a boy's name. Please keep it this way. There are plenty of beautiful names for a girl. You don't have to steal a boy's name, especially as nice a one as Elliot (my son's mn is Elliot). If you like Ellie (I agree it's cute), how about Ellison, Elaine, Eleanor, or something like that? Those are really nice girl's names. The probem with taking boys names is that when lots of people do it, it de-masculinizes the name, and then little boys with that name start sounding girly. Same thing happened to the name Ashley. It's a boy named turned girl name. Nowadays when you hear of a guy with the name "Ashley" it sounds really weird.
