We started Culturelle for kids when DS (who is MSPI) developed antibiotic-related diarrhea during tretment for an ear infection.  He's tolerated them without issue.  His diarrhea did resolve quickly thereafter.  Not sure how much they *help* on a day to day basis, but I see no sign that they are hurting so we'll stick with them for now.

This is the exact reason we had DS take it. Augmentin wreaked havoc on DS's tummy, we were advised to take the Culturelle for Kids. We didn't notice a huge difference in how much diarrhea we had, but I suppose it helped a little bit.

  • We have used them (Florastor Kids) when our kids are on oral antibiotics.  I feel like they probably have day-to-day benefits, but I haven't really considered giving them daily.

We've used them off an on through the last 18 months. We use a brand called RAW probiotics for kids. It's certified organic and vegan. We're not vegetarians, but it was very hard to find one that didn't have dairy in it, which was aggravating my son's MSPI. Im not sure whether it helps or hurts. Ds has a ton of tummy issues and both his pedi and GI have suggested we keep them in his diet. We got them at vitamin shoppe. Just check ingredients carefully. Although this one is dairy free, which is virtually impossible to find, it has a ton of fruits and veggies in it, so there is a possibility your ds could react to one of the ingredients in it. Before that we used another brand which we also had to buy at a health food store. Both have required refrigeration. We also little critter brand, but I think those taste nasty. The ones we've gotten from the health food store atelier powders and I just add to ds rice milk.
