Starting cereal

DS is going to start cereal next week when he turns 5 months. For those of you who have already reached this milestone, I have a question about the timing of the cereal "meal" with his regular bottle feedings. DS is on formula and gets 6 bottles a day. Did you do cereal right before or right after a bottle/nursing? Or, did you do it as a separate feeding from when your LO gets a bottle/nursing? Hope this question makes sense!

Definitely after. They don't get much nutrition from solids for awhile. Their systems have to learn to process is effectively.

I do the solid meal about 30 minutes after nursing her. I found that if I tried it right away she wasn't hungry and would reject the cereal/veggie, so waiting gave her a chance to digest the milk.

I give my DD her cereal first then give her a bottle.
