I had a follow up with my OB after 2 visits to L&D this weekend for preterm labor (I was having contractions every 5 minutes). My cervix didn't change, but she's putting me on modified bed rest as a precaution. I'm just thankful it's not strict bed rest, that I have a Kindle, a laptop, the bump and Netflix streaming. Now I'm just hoping the next 8+ weeks go by quickly and uneventfully.
And on a bright note, I passed the GTT, so no GD! I don't know how I would manage bed rest without chocolate.
Re: Officially put on bed rest
Hang in there. In theory bed rest sounds so heavenly. But in reality it's not so great. I found that the first week or so was the hardest, and then you get more used to it.
While on bed rest I learned how to knit (thank you youtube videos!) and managed to knit scarves for all the women on my Christmas gift list. It felt good to be able to do something productive.
This is a really good idea to do if (hopefully it doesn't) bed rest is in my future. I like that you were able to find productive things to do!
Thanks ladies. So far it's ok. I have little to-do's to accomplish each day - mostly catching up on paperwork and such before the babies arrive.
I like the knitting idea. DH has been great and would gladly go to Michaels and pick things up for me. And I do want to finish all of our holiday shopping from the couch via my laptop before I deliver. Oh boy, this bed rest could get expensive fast.
Hi,
I was just officially put on bed rest also. My cervix shortened to 1cm and I am having contractions/uterine activity. The babies are doing well and growing as they are supposed to. I'm trying to relax and stay positive but I have my moments of being nervous that I will deliver soon. I want to make it to at least 32 weeks.
Hang in there, I really hope you make it to 32 weeks too. I would be nervous at 1 cm, but it sounds like your dr is on top of this and they are monitoring you accordingly. My DH's biggest fear now is that he'll be out of town when the babies arrive. He originally arranged his calender so that he'll be working a lot in Aug and Sept, so that he can be around all of Oct, Nov and Dec. I'm really hoping my babies stay put until Oct.
