Re: ***Veteran Mom Check In*** (Like, the actual check in)

  • I'm not on the original list, but would like to be added!

Symptoms: mainly tired, I've been irritable at times but making a very conscious effort not to be, and dizzy at times.

Brag/funny:  Owen decided rather than crawl around the dog he was going to crawl over her. I got the funniest picture of him with his feet in the air and the dog just looking at him like "what the heck??"

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy? Well fortunately when I have had m/s dh was home off work because it happened last weekend. It scares me what I'm going to do if m/s hits me that bad during the week! Maybe just put ds in front of the tv while I ride it out!

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?   Potty training is exhausting! I had this plan on how this whole potty training thing would go. Tried to put him in the big boy undies he picked out and he was afraid to put them on. Then tried the pull ups and he was afraid to put them on. Now we're potty training naked! He loves being naked but boy is this method a messy one! Thank goodness we have hardwood flooring though!

I'm sorry, but that made me LOL! Good luck, Momma. That is quite the adventure.

Haha! Thank you! And yes it has been quite the adventure! It was so nice of him to poop on the floor and put his hand in it then smear it on his belly! Ugggh!

  • MCADDmama- mom to Harper, 22 month

Weekly Question: It's been rough dealing with increasingly bad nausea and having an almost 2 year old. I'm napping when she naps, though, so that has been helping.

Always: Harper is starting the "Terrible Two's", and her tantrums are getting pretty bad, which worries me, because I'm afraid of how many calories she's burning up throwing them. for those who don't know, Harper was diagnosed with MCADD through Newborn Screening, and she has to consume a certain amount of food throughout the day, it all has to be low fat, and she has to avoid fasting over 8 to 9 hours. As long as she eats after the tantrum, she's okay, but sometimes she doesn't want to, and then the worry starts.

  • This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy?
I've just been having minor cramping off and on. Nothing too crazy to deal with when managing the kiddos as well. I'll have to get back to you on how I handle the crazy, once I get a bit further along but I'm sure it will involve the DVD player and Disney movies! :o) And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? DD has been sleeping in her new big girl bed (twin bed) for a week and I still want to cry every time I tuck her in. Where is my little tiny baby? :o

Ugh, I cannot keep up. I'm so exhausted, I just want to do nothing and Henry just wants to scale the walls. I've been majorly failing at tot school and using the TV way too much.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?

I love this thread. Thanks for doing this!

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy? I've been slightly nauseous but haven't had any trouble so far.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? Gabriella has been doing really well with her sign language lately. She has also taken it upon herself to give up the high chair, as she prefers to sit at her little table and chairs for meals now. It's really cute.

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)?  I'm still very early so thankfully I'm not dealing with too many symptoms yet.  I have a cold that is annoying though, so I'm relying on DH a lot!

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? Evan turned 19 months old today! I can't believe we are closer to 2 than we are to 1 now - crazy!!

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy? So far has not been terrible, I am a little nauseous, but able to keep up with her.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? Her temper has been on full display lately, but on the other hand the last couple of nights, when we are rocking before bed, she raises her head and kisses me... I just melt!

  • txleia - Luke, 15 months

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy?

DS JUST decided within the last month or so that it's okay if Mama sits/lays down on the couch without him. Things would be much worse if this weren't the case. We also taught him to use a stool to get on the couch, so if he wants to join me, I don't have to haul him up! M/S hasn't been awful, but I am usually nauseated for a couple hours in the morning. I make it through breakfast and then we chill on the couch for awhile. So far I haven't had to use TV, but I get the feeling Kipper on Netflix will be my best friend at some point.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?

Also within the last month or so, DS has started taking 2 - 2 1/2 hour naps. Every day. This is a HUGE deal as he has been a crap napper his whole life! I've been sleeping with him for 1-2 hours each day and that has helped the fatigue SO much.

To the other moms who have crazy active kids - I hear ya. DS is always moving. Even if he does watch TV, he still walks around! He just figured out how to get into our enclosed patio (it's down a step, which he wasn't brave enough to do before), which is where we keep the dogs' crates, food, and water. I'm not getting a good feeling about this. :P

Tired and little waves of nausea, but so far nothing that I can't push through! (I'm trying to sound tough while I still can :) )

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?

We just got rid of the pacifier over the weekend. Tonight my little guy made the saddest face and cried when I put him to bed. I've been crying ever since. Why is it so hard to do the right thing for them sometimes????

  • imn_angel25, Westin - 3 years old

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)?  I haven't really had any symptoms other than extreme thirst and cramping. I think so far I have gotten off pretty lucky (goes to knock on wood).

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? I wish we could tell my DS that he is going to be a big brother, but he remembers everything and I don't want to risk him telling all his teachers at school (I'm the Director there so people would actually care). We are going on vacation in late September to Disney World and the beach, so we will tell him then and he will "announce" it to school when he returns with his "Only Child Expiring April 2013" t-shirt.

  • This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy?

So far I've been feeling good, but yesterday I. Was. EXHAUSTED! I'm trying to keep DS busy and taking him places, but the last two days because DS was sick were movie days. I felt like a horrible mother, but he was so damn clingy and when I tried to take him somewhere it was massive tantrum time. I honestly cannot wait to go back to work in September.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?

DS still isn't sleeping and he's been extra whiny lately. I find myself losing patience with him more quickly. At least now he's actually starting to talk more, so he can usually tell me what's going on. About time too, we've only been working on it for 8 months.

  • AnnieJar - Luca, 2 and a half

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy?

So far I am just feeling a little lethargic and irritable - not a great mix for spending my days with an energetic and willful two-and-a-half year old. I have been napping in the afternoons with my son but that doesn't feel like enough. Oh and I have been peeing a lot.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO?

We are starting potty training this week. Not sure if that is going to be a success or a fail but it is what is going on here.

  • This week's questions of the week: No symptoms yet really...other than minor cramping and tiredness. I'm really just starting to get tired...although I don't know if that just has to do with not sleeping well and getting up in the middle of the night with my daughter some nights (molars are coming in...slowly).

And for every week: She just started really walking this week. Like walking across the room, etc. She also learned how to open up the cabinets and pull everything out. Tongue Tied Although I guess I'm lucky it took her this long to figure that out!

This weeks question of the week: It has definitely been a challenge chasing around a two year old when all I want to do is check into a snooty hotel with super fluffy beds and just sleep through the first trimester lol.  I didn't think it would be as emotionally trying this time around but everything my little bugger does drives me nuts. T-minus 32 days until 2nd trimester!

I am having a hard time with DS sleeping!! He always slept through the night but last 3 nights and naps he gets up an turns on the light and reads or lays at the door nd looks under the crack in the door. I don't know what to do. I end up cradling him for a while, laying him down and running his head while humming for like 15 minutes before he falls asleep and I can leave.

This week's questions of the week: How are you doing with your first tri symptoms and chasing around your LO(s)? For 2+ moms - any tips on how to handle the crazy? Thankfully no symptoms really other than I want to eat everything in sight. My girl's are older and pretty self sufficient, but the key to being Pregnant with other children is to learn to delegate. Let the older ones help with the little ones sometimes.

Also, we have one day set aside each month for each girl to spend time alone with mom so they don't get lost in the shuffle. We do errands together, see a matinee or take a bike ride. Just some 1 on 1 time.

And for every week: Any whines/vents and brags/successes you'd like to share about your LO? I am so blessed to have the girls I do. My oldest is AMAZING! She found out she gets to skip her 2nd year of math. She's a math wiz, and skipped ahead 1 year last year. She tested over the summer and will skip a second year ahead in her Freshman year. I'm very proud of her!
