There is a difference in Hypnobabies and Hypnobirthing, correct? Does anyone recommend one over the other?
We did the full series of Bradley classes when I was pregnant with DS and they were wonderful and DH was wonderful, but what I learned about myself once I was in labor was that my DH was annoying me, making it harder for me to focus, and I had no internal ways to cope. (And I feel horrible saying that - because he was SO GREAT in every way . . . It just wasn't working for me.)
Just looking to add a little something different to my prep this time.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Hypnobabies vs. Hypnobirthing (Did Bradley Last Time)
I'm currently 3 weeks into a 5 week Hypnobirthing course. From what I understand, Hypnobabies is a "knock-off" of the original hypnobirthing method (Mongan method). At least this is what our instructor told us! I have been listening to both relaxation hypnosis sessions on my iPod. The hypnobirthing method is recorded my Marie Mongan, who is a bit elderly, and I have to admit her voice kind of cracks in parts and it's a little annoying. The hypnobabies recording is a younger woman (the founder, I forget her name) and her voice is much more tolerable, though she has you open your eyes & I'm not a fan of that.
Though I can't say what the fundamental difference is between the two methods, I can say that so far I am happy with hypnobirthing. Both have websites, google them & check it out - ultimately it might make sense to go with the method that offers classes near you and/or "feels" the best. I don't think you could go wrong with either.
FYI - the hypnobabies track is free on their website - not sure about the other one, it was given to us in class.

Oh yes, I told him. LOL. Not very nicely. In fact, he was taking notes and some of the things I said to him in labor (which I don't remember at all) were hilarious. I was really rude to him, and it's not like me at all. He knew not to take it personally - we laugh about it SO much now. But, literally EVERYTHING he was trying wasn't working, and I was beyond frustrated.
I rely on him so much for support through most difficult situations, that I thought for sure that his encouragement, reminders ("breathe," "take a sip of water," etc), counter-pressure techniques, etc would help me . . . But apparently labor just turns me into a witch!
As much as I know that I couldn't control what I did and didn't want when my pain was that intense, I feel terrible for him. It definitely was not what either of us expected. Hence looking for more internal ways to cope this time.
I'm planning to take a hypnobirthing course this time (lower case H on purpose
) and after some research I decided to go with Hypnobabies over Hypnobirthing. I don't necessarily know that one method is really going to be much different/better than another, but just from what I was able to read from people who have done both (and even taught both) Hypnobabies is supposedly a little more comprehensive, they claim to have a higher rate of success (but I take this with a grain of salt), some Hypnobirthing instructors decided to switch to Hypnobabies once they got the instructor program going (at one point it was home study only).
Because I have access to both courses and just based on personal experiences I read about online I feel like Hypnobabies is the better option. Not that I actually know anything, that's just the impression I get

my read shelf:
Hypnobabies was developed by a former Bradley and Hypnobirthing instructor. She combined what she thought was the best of both while incorporating Gerald Kein's painless childbirth techniques. This explains how she developed it https://www.hypnobabies.com/mylink.php?id=3802
PS I did the Hypnobabies home study course and loved it.
This. I completely agree. I am a DEVOUT Hypnobabies believer. I had a wonderful birth, and I can't say enough good things. #2 will, of course be a "Hypnobaby" In addition to the Hypnosis, there are so many wonderful tools and so much information for mothers about pregnancy, birth and newborn care.
I still use the techniques and some tracks in "real life". Peaceful Sleep Now puts our whole family to sleep in minutes. Literally. The Bubble of Peace is keeping me so happy.
I don't have any experience with other birthing methods, because Hypnobabies was perfect for me.
