I really thought the whole "pregnancy brain" thing was just a myth - or a lame excuse. But now I think I may be a believer. I cannot focus on anything for more than about 10 minutes at a time - which really sucks since I have a 20 page paper due on Thursday that I've written 11 craptastic pages of. And other due next week that I haven't even started.
Re: Is "pregnancy brain" real for you?
It's definitely not a myth. There is scientific research out there that explains what causes "pregnancy brain." Specifically, the hippocampus in your brain is affected, so that is why our memory is all screwed up.
It's not a myth. Your brain actually shrinks from around 3-8%. Around 6 mos post-partum it goes back to its baseline size.
I don't have as much attention to detail lately in my work activities. And at home I switch stuff up sometimes too (put out the recycling bin instead of the trash bin on the wrong day)...
