So this is our first baby. Now that Peyton is almost 4 months old, we broke out the exersaucer and putting together the jumper as he does not like laying down in a bouncer much. This makes me begin to think, where the heck are we going to put all this stuff when he's done, so it can be used again in a few years. What did you 2+ moms do? Take apart large baby items, like swings or try and store them put together, maybe folded somewhere.
It doesn't help LO has a regular large swing, portable swing, bouncer, back and forth sway chair, RnP, 2 different types of exercausers, a jumper for a doorway and a regular exercauser/jumper. And a PnP (yet to be used). Can you say spoiled? (by gma who lives w/ us and thought well, he needs one of everything for downstairs too, and refused to take anything back. Or it was bought such a long time ago she can't). Ok, I won't get started on her shop-aholic tendencies. Just curious/venting/worrying.
Re: Where to put all the "toys" he's outgrowing...
So far we have put away her RnP and bouncer. Luckily those two items are pretty small. The RnP we just folded and slid between her crib and the wall. The bouncer we just left assembled and shoved in the closet.
We bought a lot of stuff used or got stuff as hand me downs and we are going to sell a lot of what we have. Like our swing and PnP, once she is done using them. We live in a tiny two bedroom apartment so the disassembling and boxing up to store in the attic isn't an option. However, my parents did offer me their attic space.
ETA: We do plan on subsequent children, but we aren't really loving some of our items. Now that we are better educated on baby products and what other options we have out there, we are using that to decide what we keep and don't keep. I wasn't really suggesting that everyone get rid of what they have and start all over with each new addition. Haha.
That's what she said.
I was very meticulous about packing things away. I washed it all and for smaller things they went into rubbermaid totes and were labeled for the age range.
For larger things like the swing, bouncer, exersaucer. I made them as compact as possible and I stored them in large clear plastic garbage type bags. Some items used more then one bag. I have had to buy Ellie very little (a few girly things, a double stroller, etc). All of our big ticket items are in like new condition and I love seeing her use things that were her big brothers!
