Hello,
Since Phoebe died, I've read 2 or 3 different babyloss/grief books. The most helpful (in my opinion) thus far has been "Empty Cradle, Broken Heart." Are there others that you'd recommend? I love to read and I find it is really helping me. I tend to bury my emotions, but I know that I need to face this head on and go through it (as exhausting and scary and terrible as it is).
On another note, if you're looking for a good read The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exup?ry has actually been more helpful to me than some loss/grief books. It's such a sweet and wonderful book.
Thank you.
Re: reading recommendations?
I am so sorry for the loss of Phoebe. I would recommend Grieving the Child I Never Knew, The One Year Book of Hope and Good Grief (by Westberg).
Hugs,
Jenn
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
I have read "Empty Cradle, Broken Heat" too, and did find it helpful in giving me a better understanding about grief. It also helped to know that everything I was feeling was normal and ok. A nurse gave me "Empty Arms" it was a quick read, but a little "cold", maybe outdated.
I used to work in a card shop and there was a sympathy card I loved, it had a quote from The Little Prince. I always thought it was beautiful and would be perfect for someone who lost a young person.
I have heard so many good things about this book, it's on my list.
It really is a great book, and an easy read. I laughed and cried while reading it. I read a review from soneone on I believe Amazon and they said it was too out of order and seemed scatter brained. While reading the book I felt the same way in life so to me the "scatter brained" part was perfect for me. I hope that makes sense.
I agree with all of this. I really related to a lot of what was written in this book, and I really liked her writing style.
