Hi everyone! I've posted a little on the board, but this is my first time starting a post. I made an appointment with my doctor for next week since I am currently on day 78 of my cycle and have not ovulated. I know this is not uncommon when first coming off birth control pills, but I wanted to get checked out in case there is a reason I am not ovulating.
What questions should I ask at my appointment? Here are some I have already thought of:
- What could be the reason I didn't ovulate? Traveling to Europe? Stress?
- Is it possible I have PCOS?
- When I had blood taken last time, less than 48 hours prior I had given blood - which caused my iron count to be low in the test results. My thyroid results came back normal, but could me giving blood have have affected the thyroid test results? (I'm sorry if that's a totally stupid question - I'm really not sure!)
- What can I do to make sure I ovulate? / Have regular cycles?
- What happens if I have another 80 day or longer cycle?
- Should I be following a certain diet, or avoiding certain foods?
Thank you so much for your help! I've learned a lot by lurking and thought I should break out and post more.

Re: Dr. Appt ?s - No ovulation/period
If they want to put you on fertility drugs like Clomid definitely ask about:
Doing a s/a and HSG (no point in putting yourself through the drugs if you have MFI or blocked tubes)
Monitoring-you should have a CD3 ultrasound/bloodwork to rule out cysts, an u/s CD10-12 to check for follicle development and 7DPO bloodwork to confirm ovulation

Welcome to the board. I was/am in the same boat as you. My doctor first did blood work and saw my horomones were slightly off balance. I'm very curious to hear the answers that the girls give. I haven't had an HSG but have been thinking about requesting one. I did ovulate though, so that means atleast 1 tube is clear (I think).
I have 2 different thermometers. I bought a new one because I was having such regular temps. Well the new one does it too, so I have no idea what to make of that. 97.1, 97.1, 97.3, 97.1, etc.

Not true, you can ovulate without having clear tubes. When the egg releases it is swept into the fallopian tubes, true, but the actual egg releasing has nothing to do with the tubes. I'd request the HSG. Good luck to you
Even with the egg being fertilized and ending in miscarriage?

Nope, you are right that one is most likely open. I didn't read your siggy before I said that, just the post.
Wait...this is your miscarriage cycle?
Edit: Nevermind that was Lexi who mentioned that she miscarried.

I just went to see my doctor last week for some of the same symptoms. I failed to ovulate for the last three months, I am currently on cycle day 72, and I was having a lot of spotting mid cycle. In fact I bled for about three weeks and stopped. It started back up again just before I went to the doctor.
She did some sort of test like a pap smear and then looked at the material she found under a microscope. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaganosis (sp?). I was given antibiotics to clear up the infection. I don't think that it was a contributing factor in my lack of ovulation and spotting.
I also had blood work done, including checking my thyroid. I had an ultrasound done just to be sure that I did not have any cysts. She just explained that sometimes our cycles get out of whack for various reasons. She gave me Provera to jump start my period (which I haven't finished yet). She also really encouraged me to continue charting and to come back if I still am not ovulating.
Sorry my post is long, but I hope this can help give you an idea of what to expect. I hope everything goes well! Good luck!
Thank you everyone for the helpful information. I will look into getting a new bbt and will definitely continue charting no matter what I find out from my doctor visit.
I'm hoping it's nothing, just my cycle taking a long time to adjust after coming off bcp. I'll let you know. Thanks again for the advice!
