I have a few items in my shopping cart but figured I should get some opinions before I spend my money.
First, the bella band. Then, preggie pops. And a snoogle. Last, this pregnancy book.
Do you think all those things will come in handy? Anything else I need? Any advice appreciated! This is so exciting...![]()
Re: First necessary pregnancy items?
Every person and pregnancy is different...some people think the the preggie pops don't work, I never even got morning sickness my last pregnancy so I wouldn't of needed them.
The bella band is also not a most, some people use them a lot don't. I never read one pregnancy book b/c you can read everything online and a lot of people told me pregnancy books can freak you out with the what if's.
I didn't get the snoogle but I would say that would be a good thing to have....I just used a bunch of pillows but the snoogle might of been better.
Early on I didn't need anything...I didn't even need maternity clothes until a lot later b/c I was able to wear many of my regular clothes...I did buy a black and white cami so I could layer things if my shirts were too short. You can always wait it out and see what you need and don't. It really is based on how your pregnancy goes as to what you will need
Bella Band is awesome! A must-have!
Preggie Pops were okay for me, but plain old sour candy worked just as good. If you're not having any symptoms yet, I would wait on these. Maybe you'll be lucky and not have m/s!
Snoogle ...I just bought a ten dollar body pillow at Target that worked wonderfully.
What to Expect is a good book, I bought a copy at a used book store for 6 bucks. Some people don't like it, though.
I have no experience with the first 3 yet but I bought What to Expect as well as the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy. I have found the Mayo Clinic book much more helpful and enjoyable to read.
Enjoy your little shopping trip! It is an exciting time!
Bella band is good.
Preggie pops - never tried, I use sour jolly ranchers or skittles.
Snoogle - I used a plain body pillow, saved my hips!
WTEWYE is kinda meh, there are better books out there.
Tums. buy Tums!

What is a better book? And I will grab Tums at Target! And skittles. I love that I have an excuse to eat skittles! LOL!
Thank you! And everyone else. It is so fun being able to talk to other pregnant women! None of my friends are pregnant right now. The single ones don't care. The ones with kids are too busy to talk about it with me! lol
I would get them in this order:
1. Pregnancy Book- Your Preganancy Week by Week
2. Preggie Pops- around 7 weeks m/s hit hard
3. Snoogle- I still use mine
4. Bella Band- Around 16 weeks I need this.
I would also get unisom(for m/s and sleep) and famotidine(heartburn.) I invested in a great pair of flats right away too. Heels became unbearable pretty quick. Good luck and Congrats!
I ended up getting a wedge too. I liked it a lot. I hated the bella band...used it a couple of times and hated it. Switched to maternity pants at about 8 weeks instead. Never used preggie pops, sour candy does the same thing.

As far as the preggy pops, I wouldn't get them til you actually have m/s, since some women don't get it. Also, I have heard plenty of women who say they didn't work for them.
Belly Band-- I would agree to hold off on this. It's also not necessarily something I would want to order online. I think what's better/comfier is to get one or two amazingly comfy pairs of yoga pants. You can get them from a maternity store or even target.
As far as the book.... I would say it's unnecessary to purchase it when you have the internet, as PP said. If you want to, go for it.... I never finished more than a few chapters in a book and my LO is just fine! You can also go to the library for a copy as well...
Obviously, it's up to you. I would say it depends on how much money you have to throw around. If you aren't really concerned about wasting money and are getting items just to make yourself "feel pregnant" than by all means you can do so... or you can give your money to me and I will reassure you of your pregnancy every day ;-)
I used the Bella band as soon as I started to show, all the way through 36 weeks. I had maternity clothes, but if I went out with friends or something and didn't want to rock the maternity jeans (I never found a great pair that I just loved), I would put on a pair of regular jeans, keep them open all the way, and use the bella band, with a maternity top.
Preggie drops- I use them now but like PP's mentioned, any hard candy usually helps and is less expensive. I know they have ginger in them and it's supposed to help, but I don't think that's ever what helped about them.
I never read a pregnancy book- I always found TB to have a good amount of info- mainly from 2+ moms.
I had the Snoogle or whatever it's called and I didn't care for it. I use my regular pillow and another thick pillow between my legs. With the snoogle, I'd be comfy at first but I found it reeeeeally hard to readjust to a different sleeping position- I'd be wrestling the darn thing all over the bed.
I didn't need the bella band. I still fit in my clothes and will just go straight to maternity when I don't fit anymore.
I didn't have morning sickness so no need for the preggy pops.
Can you check out a pregnancy book from the library?
I have a snoogle but I haven't gotten much use from it yet.
I would wait and buy things as you need them bc you may find that you may not need them.
I ordered a Snoogle a few days ago, and it can't get here fast enough!
I am 8-weeks and have not had any morning sickness. The preggie pops would have been useless to me.
Since I have been pregnant, I have switched many of my beauty products. It has just been my preference to do this. I stopped using my facial products that contained retinol and salicylic acid. I switched my shampoo and conditioner, which had sulfates, parabens and other harsh chemicals. I switched my nail polish to organic to avoid any harsh chemicals as well.
I try to purchase organic produce that is not part of the "dirty dozen."
I purchased a maternity workout dvd and a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor.
Lurking....
I bought a target version belly band. I used it for the first 16 ish weeks AND brought it back out after I delivered. I was able to wear it with my normal pp jeans immediately, which made me feel much better.
I didnt have a snoogle but wish I would have. I used a regular body pillow. If I have another pregnancy, I WILL buy a snoogle!
This is what I was going to say! I have the Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy book, and it's informative, but it's all information that I easily found on the internet already. I just bought The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy on my Kindle this morning, and I was pretty much falling off the elliptical laughing at points this morning. It's not a "medical" book, but it definitely gives you an idea about some crazy things you MAY experience that aren't always mentioned in the big books... and it's much more fun and relatable to read.
When I found out I was pregnant, I just stocked up on some healthy food... yogurt, PB, lots of fruit, salad, bottled water, etc. I guess I'll deal with everything else as it comes up.
