Strollers: what do you think?

Do you think I need both a full size stroller and an umbrella stroller?   Our stroller is one of our last big ticket items left on our registry, but we got our umbrella stroller.  Do I need both or should I just do one or the other?

Re: Strollers: what do you think?

  • We did both.  I wanted a big jogging stroller for when we are camping and the terrain is rough.  On the other hand I wanted an umbrella stroller because when I go to the mall or something, I won't want to lug around a huge stroller.

  • I used a full sized stroller mainly with ds.  But I also had a umbrella stroller that was awesome later on.  I also have a jogging stroller that didn't get much useEmbarrassed

  • I got a bugaboo cameleon as my everyday stroller..and also a city mini for when we travel bc it folds much easier (i'm essentially using this as an umbrella stroller).

  • i went with a travel system.  most of the mommies in my life said they didn't use umbrellas until later and by that point they were on to number two and looking for tandem strollers.  where i know that is most likely our only pregnancy, i'm still going to wait it out and see what i need when I need it.

  • We got both.  I have our bigger one with our travel system and got a light weight stroller as well.  Do we NEED both, not necessarily, but I thought it would be nice to have them boht.

  • We are dou g the city mini with the infant seat adapter and a snap and go. I'll also do an umbrella stroller. We are trying to plan ahead as well.

  • We ended up getting 3 strollers: snap and go --makes things super easy when the baby falls asleep in the car seat which is basically all the time during the first 9 months (for the first 9-12 months when they are in the bucket car seat), we got the Bob jogging stroller for going on walks on pavement, streets or trails ( we got the attachment for car seat for the first few months), and the Britax B-Ready stroller, which is a super comfy larger stroller that we leave in my car (my son rides in this all the time when he is will me)-- we also had a Britax bucket car seat so we were able to use this stroller throughout the past 2 years.  We never got an umbrella stroller.  We live in the suburbs and I drive an SUV so the larger stroller was never an issue.  The few times I borrowed a friends umbrella stroller, it tipped over when my son was't in is because of the weight of the diaper bag.  My sister in law who lives in Brooklyn and rides on the subway a lot uses her umbrella stroller everyday.  The smaller size makes it easy for her to carry down from their walk-up apartment and maneuvers easily on the subway.

  • Our plan is to get a snap n go for the infant seat for the first 6 months or so.  We are not even going to buy a real stroller until next Spring b/c being in New England, I don't see myself going too far with a real stroller until next March or April (ppl in my neighborhood don't shovel).  When the time comes, I probably will get a City Mini; fx for finding a 2012 model on craigslist or perhaps a deeply discounted one from stores when the '13 model comes out.

Eventually may get a lightweight umbrella stroller when we travel by plane w/LO (when he is older).

  • I don't think you can use many of the umbrella strollers until later on (6 months +) so we are getting an umbrella stroller and then the BOB Revolution (jogging/all terrain) with the car seat adapter so we can use it with the infant right away and then later as a jogging stroller.

We have the snap-n-go to use with the infant seat and the City Mini.  We don't plan on getting an umbrella stroller since the CM is relatively light and easy to fold up.  That will be our everyday stroller.

You will LOVE the bugaboo. I have one and aside from the 2 part fold, it is the best baby purchase I made. You're getting so close....I am so excited for you!

I like the idea of getting the city mini as an umbrella stroller. I have the UppaBaby GLuxe as my umbrella but I'm a stroller whore and my get the mini now too.

  • I am registering for a travel system and a jogging stroller (for the park, beach etc.) Umbrella strollers are more for when they get older.

Thanks!  i really liked how easy it was to push!!!  The 2 part fold should be fine for
strolling around the city.  But i figured the city mini would be easier if we needed to use a cab or check a stroller in the airport.

  • I'd get both - we have our travel system stroller and an umbrella stroller and we use both of them a lot!  Nice to have the big stroller for storage and so LO can lay down if he wants....and nice to have a lightweight, compact stroller for going to the farmer's market and family parties, etc.
