1) How many weeks you were at delivery? 35 week and a day
2) Was delivery induced? Yes, due to having pre-eclampsia
3) Did you deliver vaginally or c-section or both? c-section after being induced and in labor for 20 hours and pushed for 3 hours.
4) Did your babies have to go to the NICU and if so, for how long? my twin boys were in the NICU for 11 days until they were 4 pounds. They were born at 3 pounds 11 ounces and 3 pounds 15 ounces.
5) Any other important details - As some other mothers have mentioned it is good to think through your birth plan and what you want but it might not go that way. My delivery did not go the way I wanted at all. I wanted to delivery vaginally but after 19 hours and pushing for 3 they advised me it was getting to be unsafe for the boys and I needed to have a c-section. I was upset because I thought I had failed as a mom. It is important to remember you as delivering multiple babies and it is not the same. I also wanted to do skin to skin right after they were born but because they were less than 4 pounds they needed to be brought right up to the NICU after my husband held then. I was able to see them about an hour after I recovered and held them both.
Also, if your LO do need to be in the NICU you are their mother and you know what is best for them. It is ok to ask as many questions as you want to and question anything you do not agree or need more information about. Most of the nurses are wonderful but forget that a MOM how just went through a delivery and is emotional can be sensitive.
Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful delivery.
2) Was delivery induced? Yes- Baby A had stopped growing
3) Did you deliver vaginally or c-section or both? Vaginal
4) Did your babies have to go to the NICU and if so, for how long? No, they both came right to post partum with me...
5) Any other important details (I'm still learning!) I agree with PP to expect the unexpected. Once they were here and healthy, thats all that mattered to me.
