Success after IF

First OB Appt. after being released from RE?

What happened at your first OB appt. once you got released from your RE.  I just got released from mine yesterday and have an appt. with my OB on Tuesday.  Did you have to do some blood work?  My RE mentioned that there was some blood work that had to be done before week 10.

 Thanks!

Re: First OB Appt. after being released from RE?

  • I had blood work done to confirm pg, and to look at hormone levels and check my general health. Then a week later I had more blood work done as part of the NT scan. At the first apt I had an u/s to confirm placement of fetus and viability, and we talked about how often I would come in and about if I wanted the NT scan. CA law requires insurance to cover the NT scan but it is up to you if you want it. We did it because we felt like if something was wrong we would want to know and be prepared, not because we thought we would terminate.

BTW: How are you feeling? I haven't said anything on the other board, but I am SO excited for you! Silly I am sure to be this invested in someone else's pg but I am just so happy for you!

  • I had my 1st OB appointment this morning!

They did an ultrasound (yeah!) to make sure everything was good and to date the pregnancy.  Then they did vitals (weight, blood pressure, etc.).  Then I saw the doctor.  He did a breast exam, some basic physical things--listened to my heart, checked my nose, abdominal taps.  Then he did a pelvic exam.  He would have done a pap smear, but since I'd just had one done in August, he skipped that.  Then, they sent me to the lab for basic blood work.

All told, the appointment (minus the labwork) took about 2 hours.

    Good luck at your appointment!!!!!!
