Babies: 9 - 12 Months

XP: Feel like the WORST mom EVER!!

Thank you to most of you who could understand where I am coming from and not judging. This is not MUD...I wish it was. My baby doesn't understand what *** means, so I don't feel bad about swearing...I just hate that I raised my voice. Tonight I was so much better and kept my cool. I was just having a bad day yesterday and had to vent. I also have a toddler who keeps me on my toes...so I never really ever get a break. DH works nights, so I always do everything on my own. Thanks again to those who did not judge :)

This didn't need a separate post and I think you're about to make things worse by saying you don't feel bad about cursing.  Regardless of what the baby understands, you should watch the words you use around LO.

Yes, this did need a new post.  I felt compelled to let the ladies know that were helpful in their responses that I appreciate them.

I would never curse in front of my two year old, duh!  A 10 month old has no clue.

My 10month old  says "mih mih" for milk, "moh mah" for more "nah nah" for no etc. She by no means has a plethora of words in her vocabulary but she does understand.

Everyone loses control, I get that but there is no excuse for swearing at your child.  If you read my PP I will admit to yelling at my daughter, one time, so I do understand how you felt. I however, did feel remorseful and I have never done that again. There was no excuse for me when I lost my cool and there is no excuse for you losing your cool. A child should never  be sworn at regardless of age.

Also, don't get mad at others for judging you when you were clearly judging yourself by admitting you felt like the "worst mom ever."

Have you talked to your pedi about sleeping advice?

  • They may not understand the curse word itself, but they can pick up on the aggressive tone behind it, because if your frustration is getting to the point of cursing, there's some harsh tone behind it for sure. We all get there, but I don not curse, instead I try to say funny words which in turn makes me chuckle and lightens the mood. Like'" awe fiddlesticks fuss butt, what's wrong?" LO usually smile at the funny words and I get a little laugh. It works.
