Trouble TTC

Was your HCG Trigger shot covered?

Hey ladies! Well I went in today for my baseline u/s so that I can start clomid. She started me on 50mg, and a steroid to hopefully reduce the extra male hormone I have. Did anyone respond well to 50mg? Hopefully it works for me. I also found out that my HCG Shot was not covered by my insurance. OUCH. $75 just for a shot, that shocked me a bit. I guess it isn't so bad since my HSG was covered fortunately. IF gets to be pricey, holy cow. I go in for my trigger shot on the 17th, will they still trigger you if you did not respond well to the clomid?

Re: Was your HCG Trigger shot covered?

  • Mine was also $75 a little pricey but I guess it could be worse. Last month was my 1st month on clomid and I had 2 follicles 1 was 22mm and the other 15mm. Im going on 100mg this month because they want to see me have 2 or 3 mature follicles. As for the trigger shot if you dont respond to the clomid i dont think they trigger you. When i went in for my monitoring they told me to wait a day then trigger bc they want to see if the follicles grew. Good luck!

  • I've had three trigger shots covered by insurance and one that I paid out of pocket for because I screwed up one of my doses.  The out of pocket one was $150.  Everyone's insurance coverage is different and most of them don't cover infertility treatments at all so $75 isn't so much in the great scheme of things.
  • Mine isn't covered. It's $60 each cycle.

  • Where do you guys get your shots?? Mine isn't covered, and I pay $92 through Walgreens Specialty, which I thought was the cheapest option...

  • A lot of people have no IF coverage. My trigger was not covered and was about $100.  ANd to answer your question no they will not trigger if you didn't respond well (at least not likely but there could be a circumstance in which they would). My last cycle I only had a 15 and it was collapsed and RE still triggered in hopes of salvaging the cycle but we knew it was a long shot and that is not the norm.  They will either have you come back in for more u/s to give your follies more time to grow or if your follies didn't grow one single bit most likely they will cancel your cycle.

Did anyone respond well to 50mg? No. I didn't respond at all to 50 mg.  I also found out that my HCG Shot was not covered by my insurance. OUCH. $75 just for a shot, that shocked me a bit. I paid $121 for mine. I go in for my trigger shot on the 17th, will they still trigger you if you did not respond well to the clomid? No. They will give you more Clomid if you don't respond.

  • I responded to 50mg of Clomid with two follicles, but no pregnancy. And my lining sucked when I was on clomid. My trigger is about $100 at Walgreens. There's no reason for the trigger is you didn't respond.

  • I did not respond well to 50 mg and did not trigger. My shot was $110 from Wal-mart.
  • Although my treatments haven't been covered, so far all of my meds (Clomid, Femara, trigger shots) have been covered.  I'm scared to find out whether or not injects will be covered next month if we need them.
