UTI Symptoms?

Can anyone describe what your symptoms were while pregnant? I've been pretty sick lately and have it in the back of my mind that this is a possibility...debating about going in for the test or telling myself to stop being crazy

I've not had a UTI while pregnant, but I know the symptoms are feeling like you have to pee all the time, intense burning when you do go, and fever. My friend told me they now make a test that you can buy over the counter at the drugstore that will tell you if you have a UTI. Good luck.

It's always better to go get tested. UTI's can turn into kidney infections and are nothing to mess around with.

I had my first one ever a couple moths ago. It started with feeling like I had to pee a lot (common pregnancy symptom). Then it progrssed to it hurting when I was done peeing. Finally it got to where I was having horrible pain in my lower back. Because I never had a UTI before I was unaware of the symptoms and didn't seek help until the pain was horrible. I don't recommend that. I would say go to the dr and do a urine test. I had one done the other day because I was feeling nauseous and it was positive. So, I didn't really have any symptoms but still had a uti. Just get tested to be on the safe side.

Definitely just go get tested if you are unsure right now. I personally get UTI's nearly on a monthly basis and know my particular symptoms so well that all it takes is for my pee to smell a certain way (pretty foul odor) and i know i have one. The smell is the first indicator for me. then it stings when i finish peeing. then i start to pee more often. Then if i let it get that far I will get bad urgency where it feels like you need to pee even though you just peed 5 mins ago. Thats the worst to deal with. Then my last one i had lower back pain which was totally different symptom for me. I attribute that to being pregnant and symptoms can just change. Also be aware that you are much more likely to get a uti now that you are pregnant. The uterus presses on the bladder in a certain way that you cant always empty the bladder when you pee. thus causing bacteria to start growing. It very common. I would go to the doctor and get a urine culture. I found that UTI symptoms can feel very different during pregnancy. I've had dozens of UTIs when not pregnant and they all had similar symptoms: constant feeling that you have to urinate, frequent urination, burning when urinating which can range from very mild to atrocious, bladder pressure (feels like your bladder is going to explode even when it's empty). If you let it progress beyond the initial symptoms you can also get back pain and fever, which is a sign of a kidney infection. So far I've had one UTI during the pregnancy and the only symptom I had was bladder pressure. No frequent urination, urgency or burning. After two days of the bladder pressure not going away (at first I thought maybe it was the baby pushing on it) I went to the doctor to be safe. The dip stick test was negative but 3 days later the urine culture did show that I had a UTI. I still didn't have any other symptoms. So if you thing there's any chance you have a UTI, even if the symptoms are very mild, get tested. Better safe than sorry.
